Meadowview boys, Morgan girls take third place

Will Pitts and Adam Brown got the job done for Meadowview Christian Saturday.
The pair combined for 21 points and led the Trojans to a 53-50 win over Monroe Academy in the third-place game of the Meadowview New Year’s Tournament.
Pitts scored 11 points and made the play that secured the game. He pulled down a defensive rebound with .1 second left on the clock and Meadowview leading 52-50.
Brown had 10 points, and Judson Mott had eight.
Meadowview’s 41-35 lead after the third was the first time the team had ended a quarter leading by more than two points.
Tanner Smith and Phillip McKinley both scored 11 to lead Monroe. Smith hit a layup with 15 seconds left, and Meadowview led 51-50.
Pitts and Justin Freine combined to go 2-of-4 from the line to close out the game.
In the girls’ third-place game, Jaime Pilcher helped Morgan Academy make up for a 35-26 loss to Monroe Academy in the first round.
The Senators defeated Tuscaloosa Academy 48-40.
