Mr. Frank Taylor Jr.

Jefferson &8212; Mr. Frank Taylor Jr., 76, died Dec. 26, 2007, at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home, Demopolis.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at the First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson.

Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Ala.

Ms. Elizabeth “Lib”

Lindsay

Ms. Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Lindsay, age 88, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007. She was a longtime resident of Orrville.

After cremation, interment was at the Lindsay family plot in the Orrville Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Cedar Hill Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. John Lindsay; her daughter, Blanche Lee; and her son, John.

For the past seven years, her home was Cedar Hill Assisted Living in Selma. She loved the attention bestowed on her by the staff of Cedar Hill, and the residents and their families and considered herself blessed to be a part of the Cedar Hill family.

She will be greatly missed by her close friend Edie Delp.

Ms. Lindsay served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. After marring John, a career officer in the U.S. Air Force, they were stationed at several bases in the Untied States and overseas. Their last assignment was at Craig Air Force Base in Selma.

Ms. Lindsay spent many hours at the bridge table earning points to become a life master bridge player and enjoying close friendships with her bridge club.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Memorials may be given to the Journey School, 1032 Old Orrville Road, Selma, AL 36701 or the Selma-Dallas County Public Library.

Mr. James H. Peoples Sr.

Mr. James H. Peoples Sr., 82 died Jan. 1, 2008.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday at Helping Hands Bible Ministries with Pastors Ralph Edwards and James Peoples Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden with J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Lula Sharpe Parrish

Ms. Lula Sharpe Parrish, 85, a resident of Selma, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2008.

Funeral services are scheduled for at 11 a.m., Saturday,

at Brown Chapel A.M.E. church with the Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden with J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Visitation and fellowship will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday at the church.

Survivors include daughters Phyllis (Alexander) Alston, Tuskegee, and Joyce P. O’Neal of Selma; son Raymond (Charlana) Parker, Houston; sisters L V. Mitchell, Nashville, Tenn., and Clementine Gillum, Cleveland; grandchildren Vaughn P. O’Neal, Jarrell, Texas, Christian Parker, Rashon Jefferson, Jacorey Randolph of Houston; great-grandson Bryant O’Neal of Houston;a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a special caregiver, Letha Patterson.

Mr. John Amos Alexander

Plantersville &8212; Mr. John Amos Alexander, 82, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center, Selma.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, at Elyton Missionary Baptist Church, Plantersville, with Pastor J. R. Curry officiating.

He is survived by four sons, Renard Alexander, John Deric Williams, John Eric Williams and Kenneth Williams; six daughters, Martha Joe Andrews, Hazel Nalls, Linda Bearden, Beverly Nix, Vera Casson and Nadaine Williams, one very loving sister, Dorothy Melton of Ellenwood, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ms. Mattie Mae Hicks

Ms. Mattie Mae Hicks, 95, of Selma, formerly of Maplesville, died Dec. 29, 2007, at Lighthouse Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Jan. 5, 2008, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ocie Acoff officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens Inc.

Ms. Hicks is survived by two nieces, Ovella (Robert) Crum and Rosetta (Ocie) Acoff of Selma; six nephews, Henry (Willie) Tally of Dallas, M.P. Jackson and Willie Roberts of Atlanta, Edward Foster of High Point, N.C., Theodore Foster and Derrick Stubbs of Selma; one devoted great-niece, Pamela (Marcus) Rackley of Selma; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

Ms. Lula S. Parrish, 85, of Selma, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Jim Steele, 67, of Selma, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007.

Services are scheduled for 12 noon, Jan. 3, 2007, at Miller&8217;s Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Jimmy L. Gordon. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Tamara (Carl) Jefferson, and Temyka Steele; two sisters, Ola Bell ( L.C.) Curry and Ethel Gordon; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Ms. Annie Jean Newberry, 37, of Selma, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

MARION &8212; Ms. Mary Elizabeth Pitts Hale, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Perry County Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Mount Nebo.
