Places to go, people to see. It’s time to make plans for New Year’s Eve.

While some folks are headed out of town, and others will be home with friends and family, others still will be ringing in the new year in the streets of Selma.

At the Elks Club on U.S. 80, the lodge will host a dance for members

8 p.m. until midnight.

At Tally-Ho Restaurant and Lounge on Mangum Avenue, the doors will be open New Year’s Eve as long as people want to stay.

Other places to go are Graystone Restaurant on U.S. 80 and French Quarter Nightclub on Water Avenue.

A Watch Night service will also be held New Year’s Eve at Greater New Hope Baptist Church beginning at 10 p.m.

Taxi services will be running late New Year’s Eve, in case someone has trouble getting home.

Employees of the taxi companies said they were willing to pick up individuals who may be too intoxicated to drive.

&8220;Call Deluxe Cab-we’ll take care of you,&8221; company drivers hailed as its motto Friday.

Individuals can call ahead and request service, or call for on-the-spot service, but there are no restrictions, driver Derrick Ruffin said.

&8220;We’ll pick up anyone,&8221; Ruffin said.

The company has several cars in its fleet and normally run from around 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., but will run later for New Year’s Eve partiers.

Ryan Marshall, of Eastside Cab, said they have no restrictions, either.

&8220;We’ll pick you up.&8221; Marshall said.
