The numbers are staggering. Almost 3,700 total yards in 10 games and 22 touchdowns.

The formula is surprisingly simple.

If it were that simple, everyone would be an MVP. Rowe, however, clearly stood out above the rest and was voted as The Selma Times-Journal&8217;s AHSAA Player of the Year for the 2007 football season.

He ran for 1,848 yards and had 1,281 return yards and 546 receiving yards on his way to winning the award for the second consecutive year.

Rowe&8217;s dazzling array of backfield moves gave defenses fits and often forced opponents to make blunt attempts to try and stop him.

Rowe also had a solid year defensively. His 89 tackles were third best for the Panthers, and he added four sacks and four interceptions.

His versatility allowed the team to play him at quarterback, where Southside copied the package the Arkansas Razorbacks used for tailback Darren McFadden.

Rowe said he was never thinking about throwing the ball, but it wouldn&8217;t have been surprising if he had let a bomb go downfield. He did everything but refill the Gatorade coolers.
