Mr. Lonnie Lee Coleman

Mr. Lonnie Lee Coleman, 55, of Selma died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, in a local hospital.

There will be a private memorial service for family members.

He is survived by his parents, James and Maxine Nipper of Selma; brothers, James R Coleman of Selma, Donnie D Coleman of Wichita, Kan., Charles Griggs of Nashville, Tenn., and Harry Griggs of Nashville, Tenn.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mrs. Inez W. Morris

Inez W Morris, 93, of Selma died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday,

at Society Hill Cemetery in Wilcox County with Bobby Small officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack F Morris.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (James) Tennimon, son, Doug (Naomi) Morris; four grandchildren, Shelby Grantham, Sasha (Scott) MacDonald, Derek Tennimon, and Micah Morris; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Garrett, Cade and Zach; her sister, Marjorie Lofton and sister-in-law, Frankie Wilkerson, both of Shawnee.

Mrs. Morris was a seamstress for more than 40 years.

Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews and grandnephews.

The family will receive friends

from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mr. Benjamin Davis Crane

Mr. Benjamin Davis Crane, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, died at his residence, Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.

Graveside services will be held today at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Sandy Simmons and the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Crane was preceded in death by his mother, Jean B. Crane and his father, William M. Crane, both of Selma.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ardis Powers Crane; a daughter, Casey Carr and her husband, Steve of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a son, Patrick Crane and his wife, Cecilia, of Stillwater, Okla.; two granddaughters, Nikki Carr of Chattanooga and Kelly Crane of Stillwater; three grandsons, Chris Carr of Chattanooga, Matthew Carr of Chattanooga and Davis Crane of Stillwater; one great granddaughter, Hannah Mathews of Chattanooga.

Mr. Crane was born in Bexar,

and raised in Selma. He graduated from A.G. Parrish High School where he was active in sports and extracurricular activities.

He was very proud to be an Eagle Scout. He was a member of KA and ROTC at the University of Alabama, where he received a degree in aeronautical engineering.

After college, he joined the US Air Force where he was a pilot in the Strategic Air Command and served in the Vietnam War.

He earned his master’s degree in aeronautical systems from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio.

He retired from the Air Force after 29 years and worked for MTC Corporation in Dayton as a chief operating officer.

Mr. Crane was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. He loved golf, reading, and watching sports.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to the Crane District of the Boy Scouts of America or Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rubye Nell Durden

Mrs. Rubye Nell Durden, 83, of Selma, passed away Dec. 21, 2007.

She is survived by four sons, Cary Michael Durden of Valley Grande, John Freeman (Patricia) Durden of Deatsville, Patrick Glenn Durden of Waunakee, Wis., and Daniel Louis (Patricia) Durden of Palmer, Alaska; her brother Louis E. Watters of Selma; and two sisters, Dera M. Fitts of Selma and Mary Godwin of Biloxi, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, 1st Lt. Cary Monroe Durden, U.S. Army, retired.

Mrs. Durden was a member of Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church.

The sons would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Hinson, the staff of Vaughan Regional Medical Center, and in particular to their sister-in-law Patricia Durden for all the love and support she gave during the last during the final years of our mother’s life.

Ms. Jerlene Mims

CLANTON &045; Ms. Jerlene Mims, 61, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at her residence.

She was born on Thursday, Dec. 5, 1946, in Clanton, daughter of the late Oscar Mims Sr. and the late Catherine Smith Mims.

Surviving are her two sons, James Thomas Cobb II of Australia and Anthony Cobb of Pelham; daughter, Lisa Michelle Pittman of San Diego; four sisters, Odieren Sanson of Clanton, Betty Lou Chandler of Maplesville; Lula Mae Barnes of Selma; Cathy Ann Mims of Clanton; brother, Oscar Mims Jr. of Clanton; three grandchildren, Erica Cobb of Australia, James Thomas Cobb III of Australia and Michael Harmon of Australia.

Ms. Mims was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Selma.

Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at Martin Funeral Home.

Services are 1 p.m. today at graveside with Pastor Bill Gardner officiating.
