loss of the former Selma Times-Journal freelance sports photographer. She turned 31 on Dec. 5.

The 1994 graduate of Selma High School lost her life in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night in Tuscaloosa on Skyland Boulevard. Her sister, Takesha Shannon, 32, was the driver of a 1997 Ford Mustang that was hit by a GMC Yukon that failed to yield after 8:15 p.m., police there said.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Little Rock Baptist Church located at 2980 Rangeline Road.

Keith High coach Harry Crum remembers giving Edwards a helmet because she had a penchant for the school’s football program.

Crum said the photographer became close to Brandon Waller, who recently lost his mother. He said he dreaded giving Brandon the news.

Photography had been an interest of hers for some time. Selma basketball coach Willie Maxey recalled her covering their 1994 state championship run.
