Ms. Minnie L. Brantley LeSure

Ms. Minnie L. Brantley LeSure, 85, of Selma died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at Ellwood Community Church with the Rev. Gary L. Grum officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Ms. Brantley is survived by a son, Willie Howard, of Dayton, Ohio; five daughters, Lottie Harris of Cleveland, Doris LeSure Young of Selma, Dora Lee Lesure of Montgomery, Rosa LeSure Shannon of Montgomery and Minister Elouise LeSure Rasberry of Selma; a brother, Woodrow Brantley; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Mr. Herbert Eugene Carter Sr.

BROWNS &8212; Herbert Eugene Carter Sr. passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007,

at his home in Browns.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.,

Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Marion Junction Cemetery officiated by the Rev Tom Rimmer and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home Inc.

Mr. Carter was born to parents Earnest Warren Carter and Margaret Lee Sheehan Carter in Dallas County

in 1917. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Evans Carter and James R. Carter and two sisters, Marguerite Carter Race and Anne Ruth Carter Gantt.

One remaining sister, Ernestine Carter Renner, resides in Spokane, Wash. Mr. Carter&8217;s wife of 57 years, Jeane Davidson Carter, lives in the Browns Community as do two sons, Herbert Eugene &8220;Pete&8221; Carter Jr. and James William Carter. One daughter, Jeanie Carter (Ross) Zorn lives in Huntsville. Mr. Carter leaves six grandchildren, Matthew Bradley Zorn and Grayson Carter Zorn of Auburn and Beverly Ann Carter (Chris) Smith and Katharine Carter of Browns and Holly Jeane Carter (Chris) Poe of Birmingham and Emily Rose Carter (Cody) Owen of Auburn.

He also leaves behind special caregivers Clifferdine, Amos and Hospice volunteers. The family is grateful for the care Lisa Carter gave to Mr. Carter in his last few weeks.

Mr. Carter was a member of Marion Junction United Methodist Church. Mr. Carter was a highly decorated veteran of World War II. He was a Marine rifleman in the South Pacific in Guam and Iwo Jima. He received medals of honor for bravery during the years he spent in the military.

Mrs. Bettie J. Johnson

LINDEN &8212; Mrs. Bettie J. Johnson, 67, died, Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home, Demopolis.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Moscow Baptist Church, Demopolis with the Rev. Robert Pearce, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis.

The remains will repose at the church beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Public viewing will be 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Willie Ann Stacey

Mrs. Willie Ann Stacey, 71, of Selma died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for noon, Saturday, at Summer Grove Baptist Church under the direction of the Rev. David Perry. Burial will follow in Summer Grove Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Mrs. Stacey is survived by six sons, William, Chris, McArthur, Daniel, Curtis and Timmy Watts; two daughters, Clemintine and Patricia Watts; 15 grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Mr. Rollie L. Watts

DETROIT &8212; Mr. Rollie L. Watts, 67, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007.

Services were 11 a.m., Dec. 12, from Thompson Funeral Home, 15443 Greenfield in Detroit with the Rev. Johnny Sanders officiating.
