Selma, passed away Dec. 10,

She was preceded in death

by her husbands, Henry Lackey

and Clemmie (Red) McKay;

daughter, Bernice Crampton;

brother, James Smith and sister,

Inez Hilton.

Graveside services will be 2

p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007,

at New Live Oak Cemetery

with the Rev. George K. Jones,

Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral

Home directing. Visitation

will be 5 to 7 p.m.,Wednesday,

Dec. 12, 2007, at the funeral

She is survived by her

daughters, Betty (George) Ellis,

Barbara (Frank) Rosser

and Betty Jo (Brent) Scott;

sons, Jimmy (Ellie) McKay

and Wayne McKay; grandchildren,

Sandra (Jeff) Deramus,

Sheryl (Timothy) Richburg,

Wayne (Kathy) Warden, Alan

(Sharon) Warden, Melissa

(David) Smallwood, Beth (Jimmy)

Champion, Angie (Frank)

Dessauer and Derek McKay;

ten great-grandchildren and

five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Weir Duran

Mrs. Mary Weir Duren gently

passed away at the age of

103 on Nov. 24, 2007.

Mrs. Duren was born on Feb.

27, 1904, in Gastonburg. In her

early adult years, she was a

caring teacher in Gastonburg

and in the late 1920s moved to

Montgomery, where she became

employed in 1930 with

the state of Alabama. She

worked for the Weights and

Measures Division for the Department

of Agriculture for 41

years and retired on Dec. 13,

Mrs. Duren was a member of

the First Methodist Church

since 1951. She was married to

the late Jesse Duren. She had a

wonderful caregiver, Patricia

Law, for the last 13 years.

She leaves two nephews,

Clyd Weir of Elberta and Dr.

James Weir of Gastonburg

and LaJolla, Calif. She also

leaves two great nieces, Andi

Weir Franklin of Ono Island

and Elizabeth Weir Factor of

Charleston, S.C.

Services will be a private

graveside ceremony in Gastonburg.

will follow in the church

2007 at Jackson Hospital.

Roscoe Hinson Godwin died

Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at a

Shelby County hospital.

Funeral services will be 1

p.m., Friday at the Chapel of

Lawrence Funeral Home with

Minister Dennis Turner officiating.

Visitation will be prior to

the service from 11 a.m. to 1

Mr. Godwin is survived by

his son, Don Godwin (Lisa) of

Pelham; sisters, Lois Travis of

Ohio, Ina Crowder of Montgomery

and Kathryn Rena

Pearson of Calera; grandchildren,

Julia, Diana and Grant

Godwin. He is also survived by

a special niece, Cheryl Bailey,

who took care of him. He was

preceded in death by his wife,

Delane Godwin.

Pallbearers will be Marty

Roney, Mitt Pearson, Eric

Richburg and Russell Sheldt.

The family would like to give

Maplewood Ridge Assisted

Living, where he lived; many

thanks to the staff and residents.
