Next week Selmians can water their lawns and wash their cars any time they like.

The Selma Water Works and Sewer Board are lifting the mandatory water restrictions, effective Dec. 11.

The restrictions, put in place in August prohibited outdoor water use on Wednesdays and the weekends, and allow for use by residents alternating odd and even days. The cause was temperatures 10 degrees higher than normal, and the lack of about 17 feet of rainfall the area should have received.

Bridges said one of the city&8217;s three aquifers dropped 18 feet in three months during the heat of summer, but insisted Selma water supply was never in danger.

Bridges said since the weather has cooled residents are no longer in need of irrigation. And the restrictions helped.
