Likes Jefferson for next city school superintendent

Dear Editor:

I was in Selma two weeks ago, and a friend gave me the article in The Selma Times-Journal written by Mr. Holmes.

I retired in 2000 from the Selma City School System. I began working with the system in 1985.

I worked most of those years at Selma High School.

I worked as an aide in special education with several teachers and several principals during those years. Mr. Jefferson was one of the principals.

He was concerned with all the children getting an education, including the special education students I worked with.

I consider Mr. Jefferson to be a man everyone can respect and admire. He would make Selma an excellent superintendent.

After retiring I came back to Jasper, my home town, but I still miss all my friends in Selma.

I have some family there, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Paul Duke and our granddaughter, Kristen. So I will be back often to see all.

Public still hasn&8217;t seen the promised police study

Dear Editor,

A while back, Dr. Ralph Ioimo and his Public Safety Consultants Inc. were retained to do a “study” of our troubled police department.

On June 26, the Times-Journal reported that Dr.Ioimo requested the city council to withhold information about the initial findings of his report because he was concerned an accurate portrayal of the situation would not be given.

The paper also reported that he promised the report would be made public once it’s completed.
