Staff Report

The coach and several members of the AISA Class 2A runners up will appear in tonight’s 38th Annual AISA All-Star Football Classic.

Meadowview Christian School coach Rick Jackson, who put together the 9-4 team this year will serve as one of the coaches for the East squad in the game that begins at 7 p.m. at the Cranton Bowl Stadium in Montgomery.

In the lineup is Brett Collins, a running back and defensive back, who led Meadowview Christian with 43 yards on 15 carries during the championship game earlier this month in which the Selma-based school was defeated by Southern Academy 48-0.

But don’t let the championship score fool you. This year Meadowview won its first five games, the region championship and a couple of games at home to bounce back from a less-than-stellar 3-7 record in 2006.

Others on the all-star squad from Meadowview include Zack Lawrence, a 6-1, 190-pound senior offensive lineman, who doubles at linebacker on defense and Will Pitts, a defense lineman and tight end who weighs in at 220 pounds and stands 6-2.
