Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 23, 2007

at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Coatopa, Ala.

The Rev. Albert Murdock, Jr., eulogist.

Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The remains will repose at the church beginning 10 a.m. Friday.

Public viewing will be held Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mollie Hill Howard

Mrs. Mollie Hill Howard of Selma, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at her residence. She was 87.

Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Selma, with the Rev. Steven Washington officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens under the direction of J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home. The remains will lie in state for one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday morning.

Survivors are a daughter, Thelma Dianne Harris, Selma; a grandson, Curtis R. Harris, Jr., Alabaster; siblings, Annie H. Williams, Selma; Matthew (Betty) Hill, Battle Creek, Mich.; Sadie (Leon) Jackson, Youngstown, Ohio; and, Edward (Maggie) Hill, Selma, and, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. A son, Isaac (Bubba) Joseph Howard, III; five brothers, James, Matthew, Solomon, Alphonso, and Walter; and one sister, Lucy, preceded Mrs. Howard in death.

The family thanks extended family and special friends for kindness and concern shown during Mrs. Howard’s illness.

Charles M. Wall Sr.

Charles M. Wall Sr., 83, of Tyler

passed away Nov. 19, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Wall, Jr. and Hugh &8220;Hootie&8221; Wall; sister, Marilyn Wall; daughter-in-law, Jan Wall and brother-in-law, David Boozer.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Williams Wall; son, Charles &8220;Chuck&8221; Wall, Jr.; daughters, Deedie (George W.) Smith and Cammie (Harold R.) Turner; brothers, Gene (Linda) Wall and Lawrence (Veta) Wall; sister, Beverly Boozer; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be, 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at at Pineview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jim Parker and the Rev. George K. Jones Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

Mr. Wall retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, model trains and full-size trains, but most of all, he enjoyed his family.

Ms. Bettie Page Ervin

Ms. Bettie Jean Page Ervin died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007.

She was born Aug. 24, 1943.

Services will be

Burial will be at Town Creek Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Walker Mortuary.

Richard &8216;Dick’ Smith Bean

Richard &8220;Dick&8221; Smith Bean, gifted leader, storyteller and friend died on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007.

He was born Dec. 8, 1923, graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa and enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving four years during World War II. He served in China Burma and Indian theaters.

He graduated from Boston University in 1950 with a bachelor’s in communication and received a Master’s in Education in 1972 from Montevallo.

After serving the Air Force, the Air Reserve and Air National Guard, he retired from the Air National Guard in December 1983 at the rank of master sergeant with many awards, including an Air Force commendation received for teaching a technical writing course that was required for all ranks from staff sergeant through general.

He worked tirelessly in Selma since settling here in 1966 after being stationed at Craig Air Force base. He was a past member of the Selma City School Board. He was the incorporator and first administrator of the Old Depot Museum. He was one of the first driver education teachers for Dallas County High schools. He was treasurer and a Sunday school teacher at Westwood Baptist Church, where he had been a member since 1983. He served on the E-911 board from 1988 through 2002.

Mr. Bean has left behind a legacy for his family and the city of Selma. He was a wonderful man, always sharing his time, a joke and a handshake for anyone in his path. He taught us the importance of hard work family. He is loved and will be missed.

Mr. Bean was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Frank Bean and Lois Smith Bean and his daughter, Katherine.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene Bean; his sister, Jo Peterson of Bozeman, Mont. and four children, Kristina Whaley and her husband, Tom, Shirley Ross, Karen Robertson and her husband Mark and Frank Bean and his wife Nancy; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Wednesday, at Westwood Baptist Church under the direction of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Visitation is 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. William Davis, 81, of Selma passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at the local hospital.
