Our take: We tip our hats to the vision and community spirit of Edie Delp and Penny Foster.

A general invitation has been extended to the public to witness the opening of The Journey School.

The folks at the school have gone all-out to make it a festive affair. Wear your &8216;Bama or Auburn gear. It’s a tailgate party.

Edie Delp and Penny Foster, who cofounded the school wanted to introduce it to the community and say, &8220;thank you&8221; to people who helped them make it reality.

In many ways, we should be giving thanks to these two women who saw a need in our community and took the risks to fulfill that gap.

Now, in the process, children will learn very basic lessons in life: appreciate one another for their strengthens and accept weaknesses, even glaring ones. We all can learn from one another.

Selma and Dallas County are fortunate to have folks like Delp and Foster among us.

These are women who didn’t stand by, wring their hands and wonder how to approach a challenge.

They worked together. They worked with others. They succeeded.

Thank you, ladies, for being role models for the rest of us.
