If you are a hunter, you may want to head to Pine Apple on Nov. 24.

The 12th annual Hunter Appreciation Day will be held in the downtown area of the historic city.

There will be live music to kick off the festivities Friday night. The Jimmy Brock Band, a variety group, will perform in the Moore Academy Gymnasium to accompany a barbecue supper.

The actual event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

&8220;We have arts and crafts vendors that line the street with their wares,&8221; Winters said. An antique car parade will be held at 11 a.m. that in the past has included cars, trucks, horses, four-wheelers, bicycles, and floats.

Gil Allen and Friends, Gilbert Pugh, and Neil and Faith Braden, all variety musicians, will play music throughout the day.

Activities for kids include a rock wall and moonwalk, Winters said. All proceeds from the event go toward civic projects that help to maintain the city.

That night, judging will be held for the Les Moorer Memorial Big Buck Contest.

The actual hunt lasts all day, and participants must register beforehand.

A certified judge will be on hand to tally scores using the Buckmaster system and cash prizes will be awarded.

Winters said Pine Apple Promotions decided to begin holding the event as a way to show appreciation for the many hunters who come to hunt deer in the town, from all over the state and Louisiana.

&8220;We formed it to show our appreciation for the hunters who come here,&8221; Winters said. Many of these own weekend homes in the town and really support the community, Winters said.
