STAFF REPORT

A house fire Friday afternoon on Pike Road destroyed one home, and nearly spread to another at around 2:30 p.m.

Neighbors James and Carol Tennimon called authorities after seeing the blaze, then grabbed their water hose to try and stop flames from igniting a wooden privacy fence between the homes. The blaze melted siding on the Tennimon’s carport, but firefighters halted the spread bringing the fire under control.

Shelby Grantham, whose parents’ home was threatened, said she was at a pep rally at nearby Meadowview Christian School when she saw the smoke.

There was no one at home at 303 Pike Road, and the house was totally destroyed. The cause of the blaze was not determined, and is under investigation, firefighters said.
