City should do something about bugs

To the Editor:

As a youth, I lived in the California cotton mill village in west Selma. All of the houses had bed bugs.

The government sent people to spray our houses with DDT, and the bed bugs disappeared. No people or any animals died from the DDT.

I looked in my water meter yesterday and saw lots of roaches. I sprayed into the water meter with Raid and a swarm of roaches poured out of the meter.

If all the meters in Selma are full of roaches like mine was, something should be done as the meters are the breeding place for the roaches. I just hope the city will treat all the meters in order to eradicate the roaches.
