Hazel N. Barrett

Hazel N. Barrett, 93, a resident of Selma, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Barrett of Selma, parents, Flank and Hazel Naylor of Meridian, Miss., two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by her brother, Cliff Naylor and his wife, Ann; sister-in-law, Margaret Naylor; stepson, Donald Barrett and his wife Joyce; and two stepdaughters-in-law, Carole Barrett (the late Lewis Barrett) and Katie Barrett (the late Hollis Barrett); six grandchildren, Pam (Ken) Gabehart, Tim Barrett, Cathy (Steve) Milley, David Barrett, Shirley (Jody) Adams and Theresa (Keith) Chambers; 11 great-grandchildren and one great,great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Loretta B. Moore

Loretta B. Moore, 82, of Dallas County, died Oct. 5, 2007, at her home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2007, at Ellwood Community Church with the pastor, Gary Crum, officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood.

She is the wife of James H. Moore. Her parents were Beatrice and Myer Brown.

Moore has one son, James H. Moore; three daughters, Mildred Bryan of Birmingham, Louise Robinson of Cincinatti, Ohio, and Brenda K. Moore of Selma; one brother, Jonathan Murray of Selma and two sisters, Annie Mae Green of Denver, Colo., and Marion Lue Cheavers of Asbury Park, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Lee D. Hall

Lee D. Hall, 56, of Hayneville died Oct. 3, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2007, at White Lily Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Earnest Green. Burial will be at White Lily Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hall is survived by three sons, Henry (Monique) Brown, Timothy Grant and Michael Grant; two daughters, Barbara Owens and Patricia Bandy; one brother, Robert Hall Jr. of Mosses; one sister, Linda Hall (Willie) Williams of Corbin, Ky.; 13 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; brother-in-law; two aunts, Cora Bell (Robert) Gamble of Killeen, Texas and Ocie Lee Roundtree of Mulberry, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Ethel M. Kent

Ethel M. Kent, 83, of Plantersville died Oct. 5, 2007, at Light House Nursing Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2007, at St. James Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Jonnie Tillis. Burial will be at Bethel Grove Cemetery.

Kent is the spouse of George W. Kent. Her parents are William People and Viola Winfield.

Kent has two sons, Febward A. (Darlina) Kent and Roosevelt (Dorothy) Kent; two daughters, Shirley J. Callens and Denise Kent; a sister, Adeline Peoples Tyus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special grandson, Cassius, great grandsons, Raphael and Bubba and niece Liza a.k.a. Busha.

Pallbearers will be Cassius Callens, John Callen Jr., Eric Callens Jr., Tyrone Tyus, Freddie Tyus Jr. and Edward Tyus.

Arthur Lee Leverette

Arthur Lee Leverette, 51, of Perry County, died Oct. 9, 2007, at a nursing home in Centreville.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Marion Baptist Academy with the Rev. O.C. Dobynes officiating. Burial will follow at Daniel Cemetery.

Leverette was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Leverette and Bessie Leverette.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Leverette, four sons, Arthur Jones, Arthur Leverette Jr., Willie Leverette and Joseph Leverette; two daughters, Nikia Bates and Ashley Leverette; four brothers, Jonah Leverette, Robert (Gail) Leverette, Willie (Stephanie) Leverette, Richard (Jackie) Leverette; five sisters, Willietta (Ronnie) Roberson, Louisa (John) Moore, Linda Hogue, Florence (Joe) Parker and Mary Leverette; five grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be nephew, John Moore Jr., Jeremy Parker, Reginal Leverette, Tyrone Leverette, Bryant Roberson and Allen Leverette Jr.

Mrs. Luvenia Jackson of Birmingham, formerly of Boligee, passed Oct. 3, 2007, in Birmingham.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at noon at the St. Joseph Baptist Church, 500 Ninth Avenue North, Birmingham.

Mrs. Dorothy J. Simmons, of Demopolis passed Oct. 6, 2007, at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at noon at the First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson.

Family Hour Saturday 6-7 p.m. at the chapel.

Rev. Willie SeaBon, 94, resident of Selma died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

James Lewis ‘Jim’ Hampton

James Lewis “Jim” Hampton, Jr., 56, of Clanton died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at his residence.

He was born on Thursday, July 26, 1951, in Alabama, son of James Lewis Hampton Sr. and Marcelle Stough Hampton.

He was a territory manager for Lifetouch Photography.

Surviving are his Wife, Mrs. Connie Voiles Hampton of Clanton; Daughter, Ms. Jessica Ray of Millbrook; Father, Mr. James L. “Jack” Hampton of Maplesville; mother, Marcelle S. Hampton of Maplesville; sister, Mrs. Anna Marcia Smitherman of Plantersville; brother-in-law, Mr. Smitty Smitherman of Plantersville.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Martin Chapel.

Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Maplesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ty Parten officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Maplesville.
