George Jack Day

George Jack Day, age 72, of Tyler, Ala. passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at a local hospital.

He is survived by his brothers, Brooks Day, Henry Day, Russell Day, and Victor Day; special friends, Jackie and Shebra Kidd and their families Rene’, Lynn, Lyndsey, and Jackson Patton; Krystal, Eric, and Ross Jones and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one brother. A memorial service will be announced at a later time by Lawrence Funeral Home.

John D. Taylor

John D. Taylor, age 89, of Selma, AL, died on July 21, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, 709 MLK St. with Rev. Dr. Terry Armstrong officiating. Mr. Taylor will lie in state from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: a loving and devoted wife, Lillian King Taylor, a loving daughter, Rosa L. Taylor of Washington, DC; a loving granddaughter, Lillian J. Taylor of Huntsville, AL; four sisters, Frankie Thomas and Elnoris Crummie of Northport, AL, Inez McIntosh of Oceanside, CA, and Annette Pritchett of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Orrie (Angeles) Taylor of Merced, CA, and Fredrick (Bernice) Taylor of Dayton, OH; sisters-in-law, Narcissa Taylor of Northport, AL, Algene Roscoe of Selma, AL, Oceola Milhouse of Washington, DC; a devoted godson, Curtis Wimberly; two dear family friends, Estella Tarver and Willie Maxey and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Omega Services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m.

Dorothy Holley Walker

Dorothy Holley Walker of Las Vegas, NV,

died July 16, 2006. Graveside service will be Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 3:00 in the New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Micah Gandy officiating and Lawrence- Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Walker and Carol Click.
