BURNSVILLE – Tragedy struck in Burnsville Sunday when a drowning occurred.

According to Roy Freine of the Dallas County Sheriff’s

Department, a nine-year-old white male drowned while playing with friends in a neighbor’s pool.

The call was received by the sheriff’s department at 2:35 p.m.

Care ambulance transported the boy – who’s name could not be released due to his age – to Vaughan Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to Freine, the children did have adult supervision.

“This was purely an accident,” Freine said.

It was reported that the children were throwing a ball around and noticed that the boy was not above the water.

He was found at the bottom of the pool.

It is suspected that the boy may have been in an end of the pool that was too deep for him to resurface.

“It’s a really sad, sad, sad thing,” Freine said.
