Leslie S. Edwards

Leslie S. Edwards, age 78, of Selma, AL died on June 10, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L. L. Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Saturday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Survivors include: her mother, Mrs. Ruby Stewart; one son, Herbert J. Stewart; one daughter, Juarine Stewart; one step daughter, Hiawatha Hunter; one brother, Isaiah Stewart; two sisters, Annie Marie Stewart and Priscilla S. Quarles; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; two nephews; six nieces and a host of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie J. Edwards, her youngest sister, Mary Alice Stanberry and her father, Mr. Rollar Stewart.

Mr. Jimmy Lee Woods

Mr. Jimmy Lee Woods, age 34, of Selma, Alabama died on June 11, 2006 in Selma.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 12 noon at Union Grove P.B. Church with Elder O.L. Acoff officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include: parents, Diane and Jim Woods; three brothers, Derrick Dower, Matthew Woods and Richard Woods; one sister, Bettie Woods; one sister-in-law, five nieces, eight nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Demetrius Dower, Larry Dower, Marvin Reese, Jr., Allen Reese, Frederick Reese, and William Thomas.

Willie E. Maxwell

Willie E. Maxwell, age 85, of Tyler, Alabama died on June 12, 2006 at Park Place Nursing Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Bishop C.J. Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include: one son, Willie (Annie) Maxwell; three daughters, Earnestine (Andrew) Oliver, Annie Maxwell and Bertha Olds; nineteen grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, five nieces, ten nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Luella Lewis, age 87, of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Selma, died on June 14, 2006 in Birmingham.

Funeral services and survivors will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.

Elsie Mae Morgan

Elsie Mae Morgan, age 81, of Newberry, Florida, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in Chiefland, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea with Pastor Buddy Hurlston officiating. Burial will be in the Newberry Cemetery with Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea directing.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Survivors include: daughters, Judy (Jim) Rummel and Joan Harrison; sons, Jerald (Kathy) Morgan and Jarred (Dawa) Morgan; grandchildren, Dusty and Cassie Rummel, Shella Altizer, Chris Harrison, Cody Yount, Tad and Tia Morgan, Nina Morgan; great grandchild, Cayden Altizer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owens Morgan.

Mrs. Nonah L. Williams, age 78, of Demopolis, Alabama passed away on June 10, 2006 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the New Morning Star Baptist Church, Demopolis, Alabama. Rev. Willie Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Demopolis, Alabama.

The remain will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon.

Mr. Hill Edenburgh Jr., age 77, of Demopolis, Alabama passed away on June 14, 2006 at Bryan Whitfield Hospital, Demopolis, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Luke Baptist Church, Gallion, Alabama. Rev. Richard Fountain will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
