At approximately 10:50 a.m., police identified and later arrested 21-year-old Selma resident Anthony Ellis.

“We were able ascertain a name, address and location after several interviews,” Selma Police Chief Jimmy Martin said. “He was arrested at his residence without incident. At this time, the case is still under investigation.”

The robbery reportedly happened on Dallas Avenue at Parkman Street. The victim was not injured but had approximately $300 in currency taken from him.

Ellis was charged with first-degree robbery and taken to the Dallas County Jail under $5,000 bond.

Officers Jason Whitt, Jimmy Sturdivant and Sgt. Joe Bills were credited with the arrest.

“It was an outstanding job on the part of the officers to collect good investigative information and make an arrest without incident after the suspect was positively identified,” Martin said.
