After inheriting a softball team that limped through the remainder of their 2005 campaign, Concordia College’s new softball coach Mike Stokes looks to turn things around. The Lady Hornets finished with an 0-8 record despite having only one pitcher, Meadowview Christian grad, Micah Lolley.

According to Stokes, Lolley spent the latter part of the season with a knee injury.

Stokes, who already has 16 games lined up for his squad to play during the Fall plans to play between 35-40 during the spring season. Those are going to be outside of the Lady Hornets USCAA conference game.

The Lady Hornets will play schools like Bellhaven, Judson, Stillman, Huntingdon, Millsaps and maybe Birmingham Southern.

So far, Stokes has recruited 12 players – four from Fairfield, four from Okaloosa-Walton Junior College, three from Detroit and one Canadian – and is looking to add some local talent to the roster.

Stokes’ goal is for Concordia College to have the same local standing and reputations as other schools like Central Alabama Community College.
