This is a response to the May 22, 2006 letter to the editor written by Wanda Goodwin. Selma City School Board policy dictates that the title of valedictorian be reserved for the top graduate of the graduating class of Selma High School only.

The title of valedictorian is based on the calculated total credits of grades (overall GPA).

Selma High School seniors finished final examinations on Friday, May 19, and teachers were given until Tuesday, May 23 to submit their grades.

Grade tabulations begin after final grades are submitted.
