Annie M. Walker

Annie M. Walker, 68, a resident of Selma, passed May 7, 2006 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 1 p.m. from Elmwood Community Church with Rev. LeBaron Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery, Sardis, directed by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walker leaves to cherish her memories; one son, David (Pam) Walker; five daughters, Carolyn A. Wheeler, Theresa A. Johnson, Jacqueline E. Walker, Vivian (LeBaron) Thomas and Sabrina (Kable) King, a devoted grandson, Errick D. Walker and a very special friends, Ms. Rosie Newberry; four sisters, 3 brothers and 2 aunts.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Walker Sr., mother Mary Johnson, daughters, Alice H. Garner and Debra Walker, and a son, Pettus Lee Walker.

Reba Lawrence Grant

Reba Lawrence Grant, age 69, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. James Shoemake & Rev. Ed Eaton officiating.

Mrs. Grant is survived by her husband, Charles Grant of Selma, sons, Charley Grant and his wife Dena of Selma, Larry Grant and his wife Christie of Selma, grandchildren, Alan Grant and his wife Kimberly of Dothan, Jennifer Grant of Selma, and Joshua Grant of Selma. She is also survived by her mother, Tincy Lawrence of Haleyville, sister, Barbara Prater of Hartselle, brother, Wayne Lawrence of Pensacola, and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was a loyal employee of Selma Medical Associates for 42 years.

Pallbearers are brothers-in-law and grandsons: Earl Grant, James Grant, Richard Grant, Ed Grant, Alan Grant, and Joshua Grant.

Honorary pallbearers are staff of Selma Medical Associates.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or

the American Cancer Society.

Family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, 2006 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Julia Mae

Shields Bandy

Julia Mae Shields Bandy, 56, of Lowndes County died May 5, 2006 at 1:00p.m at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for May 13, 2006 at 1:00p.m at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Earl Broadnax officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln cemetery. Directed by Walker Mortuary.

Survivors include two sons, James Goree and Anthony Tyrone Goree; one daughter Tashanta Bandy; five brothers, George Shields, Lester Edwards, Johnny Edwards, Kenneth Edwards and Tommy Edwards; nine sisters, Barbara Gary, Linda Broadnax, Debra Dixon, Vickie Oliver, Sharon Moore, Essie Pullom, Patricia Edwards, Ethel Edwards and Carrie Edwards; one daughter-in-law, four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Milton Sprott (Mickey) Brislin

A graveside interment service will be held for M.S. ‘Mickey’ Brislin at 1:30p.m. Saturday, May 13th, at Old Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Joseph S. Knight of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church officiating.

Brislin, a native of Selma, died March 8, 2006.

He is survived by his wife Pat Beaver Brislin; a daughter, Judy Brislin Ollinger; sons Mickey Brislin III, Andrew Brislin and Charles Brislin; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Ola M. Calhoun

Ola M. Calhoun, 89, of Selma, Alabama died May 7, 2006 at her residence. Services are scheduled for May 10, 2006 at 1p.m at the West Trinity Church with Rev. A. Williams. Burial will follow at the Elmwood cemetery. Directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include one daughter, Martha Calhoun and four grandchildren.
