Jesse Lee Cook

Jesse Lee Cook, age 69, died Monday May 8, 2006 at Vaughn Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday May

11, 2006 at Meadowview Christian Church with Rev. Tim Stewart officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Shirley King Cook, sons, Jesse L. “Rusty” Cook II of Huntsville, Jon R. “Ricky” Cook (Tammy) of Selma, daughter, Pamela M. “Cissy” Cook of Selma, grandchildren, Magan G. Cook and Richard A. Cook of Selma, brothers, Leon (Nita) Cook of Bernice, LA, sisters, Pauline (Sandy) Baxley of Ocala, FL, and Frankie (Bill) Rutledge of Boca Raton, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews; and two close friends, Wayne Calloway of Selma and Robert Sutton of Huntsville, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward and Gertie Broadhead Cook, twin brother, Jesse B. Cook, and sister, Lillie Pearl Campbell.

Mr. Cook served 4 years in the United States Air Force and he was retired from the United States Postal Services after 39 years in Selma.

Pallbearers are Fred Strickland, Earle Ashe, Don Barrett, Louis Hamm, Corneilus “Doc” Johnson, Sunshine Tennimon, Billy Boozer, and David Boozer.

Honorary pallbearers are Charles Broadhead, H.J. Gray, Charles Strickland, Wayne Calloway, Frank Calloway, Claude Holbrook, Jim Colburn, Bo Morgan, Steve Burcham, Frank Marsh, and Dr. Samer Fahoum.

Family will accept friends Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 6:00 –

8:00 p.m. at Meadowview Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Meadowview Christian Church or to the American Cancer Society.

June Smith

June Smith, age 74, of Plantersville, AL passed away May 6, 2006 at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 11, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at Plantersville Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Beaird officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, 10-11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son, Richard J. (Patricia) Smith; one daughter, Debra Smith, four sisters, Margie Myers, Mary Rainwater, Edna Looney, and Georgia Sanflippo; five grandchildren and her lifelong friends, Harry and Katherine Pogar.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Smith; a brother, Howell “Buddy” Battle; a sister, Margaret Sanders and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Plantersville Baptist Church.

Alma Lee Kynard

Alma Lee Kynard, died Tuesday, May 09, 2006.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday

May 11, 2006 at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral

Home with Rev. Johnathan Lambert and Will Brewer officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Kynard is survived by her, sisters, Mary Cooedy and Elaine Hayes; brothers, Carl Smith, Hollis Smith, and Eugene Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Virginia Harrison, Joyce Marsh, and Sherry Lolley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Kynard.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home.
