In less than a week defending Women’s Alabama Golf Association champion Chris Spivey will look to make it a three-peat when she and 95 other ladies take on the course at the Selma Country Club for the 34th edition of the WAGA Senior Championship Golf Tournament.

The event is set to be contested May 1, 2 and 3.

On the third day the championship flight will be formed and the prizes and trophies will be handed out following 18-holes of golf.

Spivey will lead the charge after taking the 2004 WAGA tourney at Redstone Country Club in Huntsville and then the 2005 tourney at her home course the Pine Harbor Golf and Country Club in Pell City.

At last year’s event in Pell City, Spivey sank a hole-in-one on the first day to keep her atop the leaderboard.

The WAGA Senior Championship is open to amateur golfers from across the state of Alabama, provided they have had residency in the state for at least a year.

To qualify, participants must be female and at least 50 years old or have celebrated their 50th birthday by the first day of the tournament.

This year, the tourney’s first day is May 1.

They also must be a member of either the WAGA or one of the WAGA member country clubs throughout the state.
