After giving up an early score, freshman pitcher J.R. Lowe buckled down and had the Abbeville Christian batters bumfuzzled. Offensively, the Meadowview Christian Trojans abused the General pitching staff for four solid innings en route to a 12-1 victory.

The win improved the Trojans to 4-1 in the region and put them in a must-win situation for Tuesday’s home stand against 5-0 Evangel. The Trojans could help themselves out with a road win Monday afternoon at Jackson Academy.

On Friday afternoon though, The Trojans pushed six runs across the plate in the bottom of the first and then six more in the bottom of the third to put the game out of reach,

Brett Collins led off the game with a single and then took second on the next pitch.

Dustin Lee laced a single to score Collins from second. James Bennett singled and then scored Lee from second. Richard Long singled to move the runners.

Austin Dennis laced a double off the outfield wall and cleared the bases. Landon Mehan followed suit and laced a single into the shallow outfield to score Dennis.

Ryan Stevens pushed the sixth run of the inning across the dish with a single, scoring Mehan from second.

After the rally ended, the Trojans were in sound control, 6-1.

Two innings later, the Trojans got their bats cranked up a second time.

Long and Mehan led off the inning with free passes and then cashed them in on a double to the left corner from Stevens. Justin Gaylor scored for Long as a courtesy runner.

Lowe laced a double to right, scoring Stevens from second.

With Blake Smith and Lee on the bases, Bennett roped a double off the outfield wall to clear the bases.

Abbeville Christian was clearly out of the game at this point, trailing 12-1.

While the guys were on one side of campus having their way with the ACA pitcher, the Lady Trojans were on the other side putting the finishing touches on a 12-3 victory.

Elyse McIntyre got the victory for the Lady Trojans, going six innings.

At the dish, she was 3-4.

Kasey Burton, Jessica Lolley and Carol Ann McIntyre all ripped triples in the victory.

Both teams will be in action Monday and Tuesday with a road trip to Jackson and a home stand against Evangel respectively.

The Evangel game is set for 3 p.m.
