The Concordia College Hornets faced one of the best baseball teams in the NCAA Div III, the Huntingdon College Hawks and bowed 15 – 1. The Hawks came into the game ranked #4 nationally averaging 10 runs scored per game. &8220;It was a bad day for baseball for us,&8221; said Concordia coach Raymond Brown.

The Hornets spotted Huntingdon four runs in the opening inning, but only got one of those back in the bottom of the first on a two-out RBI double off the bat of Dwayne Stanfield. That prove to be the only scoring Concordia could muster. The Hawks added four more runs in the 3rd inning. Pitcher Steve Washington had a good outing for the Hornets. He came on and shut Huntingdon down the 4th and 5th innings before tiring in the 7th. The Hawks wasn&8217;t done hitting as they scored two in the 6th on a two-run homer by Robby Preston, his 10th of the year, and 5 runs in the 7th. Stanfield led the Hornets, getting two of the team&8217;s seven hits.

Concordia will travel to Montgomery for a doubleheader at Huntingdon today, then return home for a three game series Friday and Saturday against Tennessee Temple University.
