Staff Report

McClaine Jones, 49, of Selma was arrested Thursday at approximately 4:45 p.m. and charged with indecent exposure. The charges stem from a complaint made on Tuesday at approximately 5:30 p.m. by Girl Scout leaders who were conducting a Girl Scout meeting in the courtyard of a church on Lauderdale Street.

According to reports, a black male subject entered the courtyard where the children were meeting, asked what was going on and further asked to join the meeting. He was told to leave.

Witnesses stated that the subject exited the courtyard area and sat on a wall located between the courtyard and the sidewalk. He reportedly exposed himself to the children and adults present.

On Wednesday, at approximately 4 p.m., the manager of a Broad Street business reported that a black male subject walked in front of a vehicle her daughter was in and exposed himself to her daughter.

The manager had also made a report on Tuesday, April 11 at approximately 4:20 p.m. that an unidentified black male was inside the business acting suspicious and a police report was filed. It was later learned that security cameras taped the subject in the act of indecent exposure inside the business.

The subject was positively identified as Jones, according to police, and warrants for his arrest were obtained. Jones was booked and processed and bond was set at $3,000. He was arrested in the 800 block of Selma Avenue.

He is scheduled to appear in Dallas County District Court on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 9 a.m.
