It took six full inning for the squad from Wachovia to upend their opponents from Lauderback in 9-and 10-year-old baseball action on Tuesday night at the Selma Sportsplex.

Lauderback and Wachovia stayed within a run after the first period, Lauderback hung five runs on the Wachovia defense to open the game, but in the bottom half of the opening frame, Wachovia’s bats fired up in the coach-pitch league and cut the lead to a run. One inning later, they tied the game at 5-5.

Lauderback rallied over the next two innings to push ahead by a quintet of runs, 10-5.

Wachovia’s offense exploded in the bottom half of the fourth for six runs giving them their first lead of the night, 11-10.

The lead was short-lived, however as Lauderback rattled off four runs to open the fifth, but that tally was matched in the bottom half by Wachovia to keep them up by a run, 15-14.

In the top of the seventh frame, Lauderback was unable to match the run and fell 15-14.

Wachovia’s Chase Girley, Cody Bohanan and Dusty Burge finished with a trio of hits and a pair of runs each to lead the offense. Chris Bohanan had a pair of hits and a pair of runs. Darrius Hawkins, Jesse Harge, Latavious Wright, Joshur Craig and Coleman Smith each added a run.

For Lauderback, Aaron Lawrence led the charge.

Lawrence accounted for a trio of hits and a trio of runs. Jay Fletcher and

Joe Gibson each scored a pair of runs. Mark Jones, Christian Allday, Beau Parker, Austin Smyly, P.J. Jones and Clayton Thornton each added a run in the loss.

7-8 year old baseball

Rehab Associates 14,

Cougar Chevron 10

After seeing a 5-4 lead turn into an 8-4 deficit, the squad from Cougar Chevron was unable to rebound despite having a five-run fifth.

Rehab Associates stayed on top with a six-run fifth to secure the 14-10 victory.

Rehab was led offensively by Brandon Oliver’s trio of hits and trio of runs. Kanneil Oliver and Kawansis Jones had a trio of hits and a pair of runs each.

In the loss, Cougar’s offense was fueled by Cole Dixon and Wesley Gunter. Each had three hits and three runs in the four-run loss. Wendell Jackson, Dylan Tatum and Cole Robertson each added runs to the effort.

7-8 year old softball

Carter Drugs 14,

Dallas Ave Pharm 5

It took two innings for the Carter Drug squad to put the game out of reach. The sixth inning though, Carter Drugs fired off six runs to put the game away, 14-5.

Maggie Tipton, Jamya Smith and Donna Neely each had two runs for the Carter Drug squad. Gyana Cowan had two runs in the nine-run loss.

9-10 year old baseball

Dallas Ave. Pharm 11,

King Building 9

Dallas Avenue Pharmacy used a five-run fifth inning to pull ahead of their opponents form King Building, 11-9.

King Building jumped ahead 4-3 after one complete inning and then pushed ahead 7-3 after three complete. Dallas Avenue battled back to tie the game 9-9. The Pharmacists pushed a pair of runs across in the top half of the seventh to go up 11-9. The Builders were unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning, securing the narrow victory.

Jakobie Lawrence led the Dallas Avenue charge, scoring a pair of runs. Dalton Lee added two runs, Earlando Oliver added two runs and then Ford Manderson added a pair of runs.

For King, Conner Henderson added three runs to lead the team. Hunter Desch and Javarious Fossey each had two runs in the loss.

9-10 year old softball

Ken’s General 17,

Steve Lane 1

After two innings of play, this game was all over but the shoutin’. Ken’s General Store jumped on their opponents for a nine-run first and then an eight-run second en route to the 17-1 victory.

Offensively for Ken’s General Store, Ashley Warren, Jamie Horton, Susanne Wagner, Crystal Aultman, Hunter Smith and Mary Peyton Deer scored two runs each. For Steve Lane Truck and Auto Sales, Claudia Kendrick scored the team’s only run.

11-12 year old baseball

Brown Drug 14,

Henry Brick 0

The squad from Brown Drug beat the foundation off the Henry Brick squad 14-0 in baseball action as the Selma baseball Complex

It took one inning for this game to be officially declared out of reach. Brown Drug jumped on their opponents in route to a narrow 12-0 lead after one inning. They added two more security runs in the second inning to go-ahead 14-0.

The game lasted three and a half innings before being ended thanks to the mercy rule.

Mike Tillery got the win on the mound, throwing three innings of no-hit baseball. He faced nine batters and recorded nine strikeouts.

His counterpart from Henry Brick didn’t fare so well. Benjamin Ellis lasted one inning giving up 12 runs on three hits and issuing six free passes.

13-14 year old baseball

Pilcher McBryde 11,

Despite beating on the Pilcher McBryde pitching staff to the tune of five runs in the fifth and three runs in the top half of the seventh, the Fraternal Order of Police still came up three runs short, 11-8.

Michael Perryman got the win for Pilcher, going four innings with five strikeouts and a trio of free passes. He also gave five hits but notched a quintet of strikeouts. His counterpart, Nathan Irwin, lasted two innings giving up five runs on six hits and issuing five free passes.

Offensively, Wilbert McConnico fueled the offense with a pair of triples and scored four runs. Brandon Sanders had two hits. Jermaal Dudley had two triples and two RBI and Juan Johnson had two hits.

For FOP, Irwin had three hits and two RBIs. Robert Davis added two hits and Kenny Cooper finished the night with three hits and three RBIs.

13-14 year old softball

Custom Rim 16,

Screenco 3

Leading 10-3, Custom Rim put the game away in the top half of the fourth with a six-run rally to notch the 16-3 victory.

Deanne Steele lifted a true home run and scored a run for the Custom Rim squad, but Sherry Jackson crossed home plate three times to lead the offense. Martina Goings Payton Reese, Tamira Kasbat and Tierra Russell scored two runs each.

For Screenco, Olivia Cunningham, Nateisha Carter, Diondreanquil Davis accounted for their teams’ trio of runs.

EyeMax 17,

Lee Kawasaki 1

Eyemax poured on 11 first-inning runs and didn’t let up en route to the 17-1 victory. Taquita Johnson scored three runs. Samantha Livingston, Richelle Carter and Rencia VanHouse each scored two runs in the victory. Mateshia Dillard scored the only run for Lee Kawasaki.
