Deadline for qualifiers expired

The deadline for persons to qualify for the June 6 Dallas County primary election was Friday, April 7 at 5 p.m.

In a letter to Dallas County Probate Judge Johnny Jones, M. Alston Keith Jr., chairman of the Dallas County Democratic Party, requested the following persons be placed on the ballot under the Democratic Party Standard:

Dallas County Probate Judge

Kimbrough L. Ballard

Kobi Little

William D. Minor Sr.

Dallas County Sheriff

Lee A. Green Jr.

Harris Huffman Jr.

Dallas County Coroner

William Alan Dailey

No contest

Dallas County School Board

District Two – Roy Edwards

No contest

District Three – Ollis Grayson

No contest

Brock Wells, chairman of the Dallas County Republicans, said the party is good for one candidate this election year.

“There will be a republican running for probate judge,” he said.

Wells will not disclose candidate’s identity until Wednesday, when a certified letter will be sent to Probate Judge Jones.

Wells did submit the candidate’s name to the State Republican Party Headquarters in Birmingham Friday afternoon.

In Montgomery, the following candidates have officially filed for the primary election:

State Senator – District 23

Hank Sanders (D-Selma)

Robert “Bob” Michael Duke (R-Gallion)

State House Representative – District 67

Yusuf Salaam (D-Selma)

State House Representative – District 69

James Louis Thomas (D-Selma)

Eli Mack (D-Camden)

Circuit Court Judge – District 4

Thomas Jones (D-Selma)

Dallas County Circuit Clerk – District 4

Cheryl Strong (D-Selma)
