Tommie Lee Gordon

Tommie Lee Gordon, age 73, of Selma, AL died on April 1, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Church Christ and Pray, 1604 Lawrence St, with Reginald Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: six brothers, Eugean (Ledora) Woods of Montgomery, AL., Jimmie (Ethel) Gordon, Lee Gordon, Ernest (Ella) Gordon, Melvin (Inez) Gordon, all of Selma, AL., Willie (Pamela) Gordon of Minnisota; one sister, Bessie Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

John Howard Jones

John Howard Jones, age 81, a resident of Uniontown, passed away on March 30, 2006 at a Jackson, MS medical facility.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, April 8, 2006 from The First Baptist Church of Uniontown with Rev. Willie Pitts presiding. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Goldman Hill Cemetery with J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

He confessed Christ at a nearly age and was educated in the Uniontown and Perry County school systems. He received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Tuskegee Institute.

Mr. Jones served his country honorably serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserves retiring after more than 20 years with the rank of Major.

He served as an educator in both Marengo and Perry County schools for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Jones was dedicated and faithful to his church, his community and the schools in which he served.

He leaves to cherish his memory a beloved and devoted wife, Nancy Whitehead Jones; a daughter, L. Yvonne Jones; three sons, John H. Jones, Jr., Patrick D. (Linda) Whitehead, and Mark P. Jones; a sister, Matilda Bell; seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Hattie Sam and Billie (Carver) Clinton; a brother-in-law, Ernest (Paola) Harrell; and host of other relative and friends.

Rosa Dudley

Rosa Dudley , age 77, of Selma, AL died on April 6, 2006 at a local nursing home.

Funeral services and survivors will be announced at a later date by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Bobby M. Middlebrooks

Bobby M. Middlebrooks, age 70, of Prattville, AL passed away April 5, 2006 at his residence. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Steve Jones officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 06, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Mark Middlebrooks of Birmingham, AL and Robert Steven (Jennifer) Middlebrooks of Columbus, MS; one sister, Betty Ann (Melvin) Hartley of Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor, Bobby, Sam, David and Jack Middlebrooks and his childhood sweetheart, Annie Laurie Middlebrooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie Middlebrooks and Avie Wiseman, and his sister, Inez Hill.

Pallbearers will be Steve Middlebrooks, Mark Middlebrooks, Billy Klinner, Russell Buster, Ernie Divelbiss and Melvin Hartley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to a favorite charity or The American Cancer Society.

Isaac Shephard Parker

Isaac Shepherd Parker, age 50, of Cleveland, Ohio died on April 1, 2006 at Cleveland General hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Potter Station, with Pastor Herman Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Survivors include: two brothers, Jessie Parker and Alphanso Parker, both of Selma, AL; three sisters, Gency Melton, Nancy Hosea of Selma, AL and Robbie Scott of Cleveland, Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Mavis Parker and Mildred Parker, both of Selma, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert Sinter, Sr.

Robert Sinter, Sr., age 69, of Fort Deposit, AL died on March 31, 2006.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Fletcher Fountain officiating. Burial will be in Fort Deposit Cemetery directed by Bell Funeral Home.

Ola M. Harrison

Ola M. Harrison, age 70, of Selma, AL died on April 5, 2006 in Selma.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.

Jeanette M. Burt

Jeanette M. Burt, age 86, loving wife and mother, was called by our Lord to join the angels in Heaven on April 5, 2006.

She will be held in out hearts for all eternity. We each cherish our memories of her special life and are thankful for the time we were blessed to have her with us on this earth.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Vernon L. Burt, Sr. of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Evelyn Mizelle of Selma; grandsons, Keith C. Burt of Panama City, FL, Mark

McMillian of Prattville, and Ross McMillian of Prattville; granddaughters, Karen “Kai” Page and Michelle Davis, both of Crawford, FL; nephew, Carroll Burt of Petal, MS; nieces, Vonneice Flora of Katy, TX and Charlotte Veach of Selma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 8, 2006 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Pastor Micah Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday.

Charles Jones

Charles Jones, age 73, of Selma, Alabama died on April 4, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at New Pernell Baptist Church with Rev. Luegene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: wife, Retha Jones; three sons, Stevie Jones, Norman Jones, Bernard Jones; six daughters, Joyce Anderson, Dorothy Mcgahee, Yvonne Vann, Iletha Pitts, Vertina Pitts, Towanda Gordon; one brother, Aaron Demming; one sister, Ruth Demming; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charlie Cook, Jr.

Charlie Cook, Jr., age 76, of Hayneville, AL died on April 2, 2006.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, Hayneville, AL with Bro. Willie Broadnax officiating. Burial in Cook Cemetery directed by Bell Funeral Home.

Abron Green

Abron Green, age 91, of Marion, Alabama died on April 6, 2006 at his residence.

Betty Jean Mitchell

Betty Jean Mitchell, 72, of Valrico, Florida, formerly of Selma, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Mitchell, formerly of Selma, Alabama.

She is survived by 2 sons, Frank Mitchell, Valrico, Florida and Melvin Mitchell, Middletown, Ohio; 2 brothers, Gerald Smith, Alabama and Grady Smith, Arizona; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted graveside at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Sprott, Alabama at 2:30 pm on Sunday. Officiating will be reverend Cary Waldrop of Faith Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Those wishing to follow in procession to Mt. Olive Cemetery should meet at Lawrence Brown by 1:30 pm.

John Henry Thomas

John Henry Thomas, age 85, of Orrville, Alabama died on April 1, 206 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2006 a 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Orrville, AL with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include: five sons, Enoch (Georgia) Craig, John Henry (Jeanette) Thomas, Jr., Frank James (Barbara) “Peter” Thomas, Joshua (Elaine) Thomas, Tim (Shirley) Thomas; three daughters, Lula Thomas Williams, Julia Thomas, Gloria Thomas Bonner; fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five daughters-in-laws, two sisters-in-laws, one nephew, Willie Thomas, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carrie Harris

Carrie Harris, age 61, of Hayneville, AL died on April 1, 2006.

Tarquinn rascoe, Montgomery, AL, and Darryl Mitchell, Cleveland, Ohio; his father, Andrew Hall, Sr., Maplesville, AL; four sister, Mary Ann (James) Walls, Joyce (Rev. Earnest) Nix, both of Maplesville, AL, Al Brenda (Clyda) Summerville of Detroit, MI and Ruby Hall of Jemison, AL; four brothers, Andrew Hall, Jr., Henry Hall, Kenneth Ray Hall, all of Maplesville, AL and Vincent Hall of Montgomery, AL; three aunts, two uncles, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
