Johnathan Owens, 18, of Plantersville, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with criminal mischief, third degree in connection with damage done at the new walking trail located at Bloch Park, according to a police report.

Owens was booked and processed at the Selma Police Department and his bond was set at $500.

The arrest stemmed from a report of a truck driving recklessly in the area of the walking track on March 24, resulting in about $600 in damage to city property, according to the report.

Police will seek a trespass order barring the subject from the area and will also seek restitution for damages and court costs, according to a press release from the police department.

Selma Police Chief Jimmy Martin and Patrol Commander Michael Perry urge all citizens to report suspicious

persons and suspicious vehicles. Both uniformed and plain clothes patrols have been ongoing in the area, resulting in this arrest. Martin and Perry warned that parents can be held accountable for the actions of their children and offenders will be prosecuted to the full extend of the law.

Martin and Perry said that throwing any type of a projectile at or into a moving vehicle is a felony and those caught will be prosecuted.
