Rebecca (Essie) Whitt

Rebecca (Essie) Whitt, age 72, of St. Louis, MO. formerly of Selma, AL died at home on March 22, 2006.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the New Morning Star Baptist Church Marion Jct., with Rev. R.L. Tolbert officiating.

Burial will follow in the Whitt Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, Mattie (Leon) Brown, Mary Ruth Sherrod, Gloria (Chris) Powell and Barbara Smith all of St. Louis; Darlene Mitchell and David (Nita) Whitt Sr. of Selma.

One brother Robert Whitt and one sister-in-law Catherine Whitt of Selma.

18 grandchildren, 20 greatgrands and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Lula Whitt, six

brothers: Milton Jr., Tommy, Henry, Sammy, Dennis, Willie, and Joseph Whitt and two sisters: Lula Bell Harrell and Queen Esther Whitt.

Active pallbearers are friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Fred Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in Scott Memorial Cemetery, Jefferson, Alabama.
