Lady Nets stumble

Despite pushing ahead 4-2 through four and a half innings, the Dallas County Hornets allowed a 4-run fifth to lift Demopolis to a 6-5 victory.

The Lady Tigers did however, commit six errors in the victory.

Dallas County, for the second straight game were sans the services of a pair of their starters due to nagging injuries.

Dallas County pushed ahead 1-0 in the first on a single by Ashley Ingram.

One inning later, the Lady Tigers weren’t able to cleanly field a bunt and allowed Kim Ross and Tiffany Ingram to score, advancing the score to 3-0.

Demopolis answered the offense in the bottom of the third frame with a pair of runs from Dorothy Knapp and India Chancellor.

In the top half of the fifth, the Lady Hornets added another run when Cleandra Dixon (courtesy-running for Jessica Melton) made her way around the basepaths and stole home when the Lady Tigers’ catcher mishandled a pitch..

Demopolis took control of the game in the bottom of the fifth frame.

Chancellor lifted a rising fastball over the outfield fence for a three-run bomb and then Brittany McGhee roped a solo-homer to give Demopolis a 6-4 lead.

Dallas County scored their final run of the game in the top of the sixth frame, Ingram reached on a bun and was moved to third courtesy of Kenesha Jefferson’s pinch-hit two-bagger. Miller dropped a sacrifice bunt down the right side of the infield to allow the runner to score from third.

The loss ended the DCHS win streak at five games and also provided Melton with her first &8220;L&8221; of the season. Melton allowed a pair of earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Ashley Ingram and Tiffany Ingram both had a pair of singles.
