Nearly a month after the Alabama Independent School Association shuffled the line-ups throughout their trio of classes, the AISA has now completed their re-classing for the 2006-2008 seasons by breaking the classes down into regions.

The region that endured the least amount of change is Class AAA’s Region 1.

The Morgan Academy Senators remain in the region with Faith Academy, Cottage Hill Christian, Fort Dale and Hooper Academy.

The defending Class AAA champion Senators are joined by Taylor Road and Class AA’s defending state champion Gators of Clarke Preparatory School.

On the other side of the coin, Class AAA shapes up with Bessemer Academy, Edgewood Academy, Pickens and Tuscaloosa Academies, Glenwood School, Lee-Scott and Macon-East Montgomery Academies and Pike Liberal Arts School.

While old faces remain in one class, they are the minority in another.

Meadowview remained in Class AA, but their region was busted in half. Escambia and Sparta remained in Class AA, but are now in Region 1. As for the Trojans in Region 2, Evangel Christian and Kingwood remain.

Chambers and Lakeside move into the region along with a face from the Trojans’ past, the Lowndes Academy Rebels.

Tri-County Christian from Prattville will also move into the region, but as a non-football member.

For the Lowndes Rebels, this is an opportunity to see some different football as well.

In Class AA’s Region 1, Jackson, Sparta, Wilcox, Patrician and Marengo Academies join Escambia Academy. The rest of the region is filled out with a pair of newcomers.

Defending Class A Champion Southern moves in along with Marion Military Institute.

With Class A being void of a state champion, it could be like Class AA, wide open.

The usual suspects, Shelby Academy and Cornerstone Christian remain in Central Christian’s region. Sumter, Open Door and new-comers Chi-Alpha, South Choctaw, Coosa Valley, Warrior and West Alabama move in.

Marion Academy will remain in CCA’s region but as a non-football member.

On the other side of the coin, new-comers Abbeville Christian and Crenshaw Christian will battle for a title this fall. Abbeville Christian also makes their Class A debut this fall when they enter Class A’s Region 1. The Generals will match-up with another set of Generals, of the Autauga Academy variety. East Memorial Christian, Prattville Christian, South Montgomery County Academy, Dixie Academy, Crenshaw Christian and Ashford Academy round out the newly formed region.

The new regions will take effect this fall and will be in place until the 2008 season.
