Winona Wilson ‘Nonie’ McKee

Winona Wilson “Nonie” McKee, age 84, passed away at her home Wednesday February 22, 2006.

Funeral Services will be Saturday February 25, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Elkdale Baptist Church officiated by Rev Micah Gandy and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Nonie, a life long resident and much beloved member of the Selma community, graduated from Selma Academy June 5, 1939.

Nonie could be found singing in numerous social occasions throughout her life.

She worked as a customer service representative for Cawthon Coleman Drug Company.

Retired for over 20 years Nonie was a devoted and active member of Elkdale Baptist Church. Nonie could be seen volunteering at the voting polls, delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering for many other humanitarian organizations.

Nonie is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary Ida Wilson, her sister, Aileen Wilson Varner, her two brothers, Woodrow S. Wilson and Charles E. Wilson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Herman S. McKee, and son-in-law, Teddy V. Fodrey.

Nonie is survived by her sister, Louise Wilson Watts, her nephew, Harrell Watts, his wife Cheryl Watts and family of Sardis. Her children, Michelle McKee Fodrey of Oriental, NC, Michael Herman McKee of Tuscaloosa, Mark Wilson McKee and his wife Mary Cocking McKee of Wetumpka. Nonie is also survived by her grandchildren, Mary McKee “Kee” Fodrey and Sarah Wilson Fodrey, both of Oriental, NC, Lauren Taylor, Christopher Jordan, and Shannon Wilson McKee of Wetumpka.

We were all blessed to have known and loved her.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hope Sunday School Class. Active pallbearers will be deacons of Elkdale Baptist Church.

Family visitation will be Friday February 24, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Louisa Jane Anderson

Louisa Jane Anderson, age 85, of Centreville, Alabama died on February 22, 2006 at Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on February 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home Marion Chapel. Interment will follow at Springhill Church Cemetery directed by Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

Visitation will be on February 25, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Lee James Shaw

Lee James Shaw, 60, of Selma, AL died on February 15, 2006 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Christian Grace Apostolic with Bishop James Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Family hour will be Friday, February 24, 2006 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Regina Childress-Shaw; two sons, Eric Banks and Antwion Childress; one daughter, Gabrielle Shaw; three brothers, Joe A. Shaw of Huntsville, TX, John C. (Ann) Shaw Jr. of San Jose, CA, Jimmie L. Shaw of Selma, AL; five sisters, Marie Shaw and Lynn Shaw of Monroe, LA, Doris Shaw-Gullett and Marilyn Shaw of Selma, AL, Claudia M. Shaw-Lee of San Jose, CA; one daughter-in-law and one sister-in-law; two aunts; one uncle; and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Antwion Childress, Calvin Childress, David Childress, James Childress, Larry Parker and Phinis Waller.

Kathleen G. Hicks

Kathleen G. Hicks, age 77, of Selma, passed away February 22, 2006.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, 2006, 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Hatcher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Emmett Hicks; two sons, Emmett Ted (Patsy) Hicks of Oxford, AL and Carl (Nancy) Hicks of Marietta, GA; one daughter, Susan Hicks Armor of Nashville, TN; one brother, Frank Audie “Peter” Gregory, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Scott Dunkin, Jeff Dunkin, Heather Martin, Ben Hicks, Ashley Horn, Melissa Hicks, Rebecca Hicks and Mary Beth Armor and seven great-grandchildren, Regan Dunkin, Evan Dunkin, Kallie Martin, Dylan Dunkin, Murphy Dunkin, Isabella Martin and Jack Dunkin.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Dunkin and her twin sister, Lorene McConnell Presnall.

Pallbearers will be Scott Dunkin, Jeff Dunkin, Bobby Horn, Ben Hicks, T. C. Dunkin, David Martin and Andrew DeRamus.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the ministry of Northside Baptist Church, 2950 Citizens Pkwy, Selma, AL 36701.

Ms. Juliette Hayes

Ms. Juliette “Mutdear” Hayes, 77, of Selma, AL departed this life on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Morning Start Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. B. T. Booker, Jr officiating.

Interment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Ms. Juliette Hayes was born to the late John and Laura (Olds) Hayes on September 1, 1928 in Dallas County.

She confessed Christ at an early age and united the Reformed Presbyterian Church.

She later joined the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr.

I. C. Acoff, where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Ms. Juliette Hayes attended Selma University High School.

She worked for many years in the Health Care field in Philadelphia, PA and Selma, AL.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Laura (Olds) Hayes; one sister, Ora Lee Tolbert and two brothers; Nathaniel Hayes and Mckinley Moore.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: two devoted sons; William Hayes and Calvin J. Hayes of Selma, AL; two loving daughters, Marie H. (Arthur) Brown of Selma, AL and Bobbie J. (Trenal) Adkins of Hinesville, GA; twelve grandchildren, Terry Brown, Boris Brown, Valerie Brown, Artie L. Brown, Andre Brown, Barbara Hayes, Tony Hayes, Tyfonia Hayes, Anthony Hayes, William Hayes, Julien Adkins and Katrina Adkins; fourteen great grandchildren; seven nephews; six nieces; three God daughters, Mary Moore of Enterprise, Al, Billie M. Chapman of Selma, AL and Marcia Brown of Hinesville, GA; two God sons, Alfonzo Hasberry and Robert Malone both of Selma, AL; one God granddaughter, Calandra Fain-Morgan; a loving cousin, Florence Beckom; a special devoted friend, Minister Gertrude Jiles; a loving and devoted son-in-law, Arthur L. Brown and a host of other relatives, friends and the Mt. Zion Outreach Ministries Church family of Hinesville, GA.

Wendy Scott-Myles

Wendy Scott-Myles, 27, of Fort Deposit, AL died on February 15, 2006.

Funeral will be Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 12 noon at Ft. Deposit Complex with Pastor Cecilia Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Ft. Deposit Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Donna Inez Morgan

Donna Inez Morgan, age 81, passed away February 22, 2006 at her residence in Camden, AL.

Services are scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Kimbrough Methodist Church with burial following at Dunaway Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Primm and Rev. David A. Murray officiating.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband Archie C. Morgan and daughter Alice Lena Morgan.

She is survived by daughter, Donna M. (Bob) Matthews of Camden, AL; sons, Archie Bernard (Betty) Morgan of Hahira, GA, Charles E. (Denise) Morgan of Camden, AL; seven grandchildren; sister, Cora Alice Hall of Camden ,AL; nieces and nephews; extended family, Travis and Theresa Parga and daughter Heather Dugger.

Julia M. Ford, 76, of Sardis, AL passed away on February 18, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Sardis with Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Sardis. J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.
