Obnella Sheffield Crocker

Obnella Sheffield Crocker, age 92, of Thomaston, Alabama passed on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Bryan E. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis, Alabama.

She was born August 13, 1913 in Marengo County, Alabama. She was a member of Thomaston Baptist Church where she worked in Vacation Bible School. She served on the Hospitality Committee and the Homecoming Committee. She was in charge of the nursery for over 25 years. She retired from Vanity Fair Crop. in Demopolis, Alabama where she worked as a seamstress for 26 years. She was a joyful and caring lady. We were blessed to have known and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at Thomaston Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Randall Mims officiating. Burial will be in the Thomaston Cemetery in Thomaston, Alabama.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Suzan (David) LaFountaine of Los Angeles, Calif.; two great grandchildren, Drew LaFountaine and Nicole LaFountaine of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Fred Crocker; her son, Bobby Frank Crocker; and her grandson, Bobby “Frank” Crocker, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to Thomaston Baptist Church in Thomaston, Alabama. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden, Alabama directing.

Deacon Charles Brown

Deacon Charles Brown, age 76, of Demopolis passed away on February 16, 2006 at the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at the New Morning Star Baptist Church. His remains will lie-in-state beginning at 9:30 a.m. at New Morning Star Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
