Era Caffey Thomas

Era Caffey Thomas, 74, of Selma, AL died February 8, 2006 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL. Services are scheduled for February 18, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Shady Grove Barker Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Willis Buren Marshall, age 66, of Orrville, AL passed away February 15, 2006.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18, 2006, 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Farrow and Rev. Glen Taylor officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Jo Hollis Marshall; three daughters, Karen Marshall Kincey (Johnny), Anita Marshall Whatley (Russell), both of Auburn, AL and Susan Marshall Livingston (Buddy) of Greenville, TX; three brothers, Terry Marshall and Hal Marshall both of Collinsville, IL and Eddie Lloyd Marshall of Kennett, MO; two sisters, Lavadna Hines of Collinsville, IL and Magdaline Benson of Oconomowoc, WI; and four grandsons, Lance Marshall Livingston, John Holden Kincey III, Evan Blake Whatley and Britton Lee Whatley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Van Buren and Lemah Marshall and a sister, Mavis Lemonds.

Mr. Marshall was a well-known cotton farmer in the Orrville area.

He also worked for International Paper Company.

He was a member of Orrville Baptist Church.

He was also a member of the Elks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Rose Yoder Dialysis Fund, c/o The Peoples Bank & Trust, Co., 310 Broad Street, Selma, AL

36701.

Pallbearers will be Jason Benson, Jonathan Hines, Jared Marshall, Gordon Gougler, Ron Hollis and Owen Yoder.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jack Burns, Dr. Todd Sherrer and Dr. Bill Lightfoot.

Jimmy Spears

Jimmy Spears, age 81, of Selma, AL died on February 14, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for February 19, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. F.D. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Ellwood directed by Miller Funeral Service. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Spears; five sons, Jimmy Spear, Jr., Melvin Spears of Selma, AL, Eugene Beigens, Nathaniel Beigens of Tyler, AL, Samuel Spears of FL.; four daughters, Nellie Spears, Maggie Brewer of Selma, Ammie (John) Simmons of Orrville, Virginia Davidson of FL; one brother, Buster (Annie) Spears of Montgomery, AL.

Pallbearers will be nephew and grandson.

Earl (Yet) A. Wilson

Earl (Yet) A. Wilson, 74, of Parnell Community in Marion Junction died on February 9, 2006.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 12:00 noon at the New Parnell Mission Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Wright officiating and Pastor Earl Butler. Burial will follow in the church yard cemetery directed my Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Saturday.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles (Mildred) Wilson and Aaron Demmings; two sisters, Sarah Tolbert and Ruth Goldston; one brother-in-law, Eugene McClenney.

Ronald E. Causey

Ronald E. Causey, age 72, of Greensboro, AL died on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, AL. The Rev. Alton Phillips and the Rev. Steve Vernon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Greensboro Chapel directed by Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2006 at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest E. Causey and Esther Naomi Cooper Causey; brothers, John Thomas Causey and Francis Cooper Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Voncille Rudder Causey of Greensboro, AL; one daughter, Kathy Causey (John) Knudsen of Wetumpka, AL; two sons, John Kenneth Causey of Greensboro, AL and Ronald Keith Causey of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Chris Barnette, Bruce Perry, Randy Hollingsworth, Haywood Stokes, Billy Doman, James “Cookie” Jones, Drury “Dude” Garris and David Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees and directors of Citizens Bank in Greensboro; directors and employees of Black Warrior Electric; Deacons and Elders of Greensboro First Presbyterian Church; Dr. Keith Dismukes and Dr. Jerry Luther and all doctors and nurses at DCH Oncology clinic in Tuscaloosa.

Johnny Lee Garling

Mr. Johnny Lee Garling, 51, died on February 15, 2006 at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Services. Survivors include his brother William Garling.

James Monroe Edwards

James Monroe Edwards, 78 years old of Clanton, AL died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 in Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on Friday, August 26, 1927 in Chilton County, Alabama, son of the late Jasper Edwards and the late Elizabeth Popwell.

He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Gas Industry.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Edwards; three daughters, Ms. Cherry Nielsen of Selma, AL., Mrs. Sue (Bob) McMasters of Selma, AL., Ms. Connie Edwards of Savannah, GA.; one step-daughter, Ms. Renee Sample of Montevallo, AL.; one step-son, Mr. Mark Edwards of Jemison, AL.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Mims of Ringgold, GA., Mrs. Leola Milford of Alexander City, AL.; three grandsons, Mr. Duane McMasters of Savannah, GA., Mr. Jay Nielsen of Selma, AL., Mr. Matthew Sample of Montevallo, AL.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Michelle Baxley of Lousiville, KY., Ms. Suzanne Sample of Montevallo, AL.; one great grandchild, Anna Wood, Washington.

He was preceded in death by Wife, Deane Robinson Edwards.

Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Clanton, AL.

Services will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, February 17, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, AL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Baptist Building Fund or Elkdale Baptist Building Fund in Selma, Alabama.

Earnest David Sneed

Earnest David Sneed, age 61, of Selma, AL died on February 12, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for February 18, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Zion Primitage Baptist Church with Elder Bryan Starks officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Brook County, GA. directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include his wife Sallie Mae Hale Sneed; one son, DeShawn (Michelle) Hale of Savannah, GA.; three daughters, Audrey (Charles) Singleton of Savannah, GA., Annette (Steven) Tolbert of Pensacola, FL., Valorie (Mike) Blevens of Pensacola, FL.; four brothers, Rev. Eddie (Virginia) Sneed of Hendersonville, TN., Thomas J. (Carolyn) Sneed of Thomasville, GA., Jacob E. Sneed of Thomasville, GA., Timothy M. Sneed of Miami, FL.; three sisters, Thelma M. Washington of Tallahassee, FL., Lessie L. (Julius) Tillman of Thomasville, GA., Ada M. (Frank) Cunningham of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; ten grandchildren; two great grand children; three sons-in-laws; one daughter-in-law; three sisters-in-laws; ten nephews, eleven nieces and a host of other relatives.
