The Central Christian Lady Warriors notched a first round victory on Thursday night and will face host Shelby Academy in the AISA’s West Area 3 tournament.

The Lady Warriors knocked off No. 5 seeded Cornerstone Christian 27-19.

Jeneeka Williams led all scorers with a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Amber Motley tacked on six points and three steals and Trisha Stacy grabbed 10 boards and six points in the victory.

CCA will face Shelby Academy on Friday at 2:30 with the winner advancing to the championship. Marion Academy is also one game away from an Elite 8 berth. Marion will also be in action on Friday. They will face the winner of Prattville Christian and East Memorial Christian.

R.C. Hatch (B) 74, Greensboro (B) 63

GREENSBORO &045; All five starters scored in double figures for the 2A No. 2 ranked R. C. Hatch Bobcats Tuesday night as they recorded their 26th win of the season, beating the Greensboro High Raiders 74-63.

Being on the road didn’t bother the Bobcat offense.

They started clicking early in this game, getting looks inside, outside, and in between.

Both teams combined for a total of 45 points in the first quarter. Hatch netted 27 of them. Greensboro fought back to stay in the game, but the Bobcats held a 40 – 35 lead at the end of the second quarter and never looked back the rest of the way.

The Raiders got as close as four points in the third, but the Bobcats answered a short run to go up by 10 by the end of the quarter.

Frankie Sullivan lead all scorers with 21 points for Hatch. Lorenzo Jones netted 14. Willie Coleman scored a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Phillip Johnson also had 11 points. Calvin Pope added 10 points. Ivory White topped Greensboro with 14 points.

GREENSBORO &045; The start of Tuesday night’s game was similar to most of the starts for the R. C. Hatch Lady Bobcats, out of sync, filled with turnovers and poor shooting.

It usually lasts one quarter.

Tuesday against the defense of the 9th-ranked 4A Greensboro Lady Raiders, it lasted all but the last five minutes of the game and the Lady Raiders walked away with a 56 – 51 win.

In spite of their play, the Lady Bobcats had an opportunity for a win.

They battled back from a 10-point deficit with 4:51 showing on the clock to a one-point deficit with :22 seconds remaining in the game. But a turnover and a missed field goal spoiled their chance of a win.

Senior Vinecia Dudley scored 14 of the 19 fourth quarter points for Hatch.
