LOWNDESBORO &045; For the members of the Meadowview varsity basketball team who double-dip and play junior varsity ball, Saturday’s conclusions were eerily similar.

In the junior game, the Trojans had battled back into the game only to lose it on a rebound and shot at the buzzer. In the varsity game, the Trojans outscored Lowndes 15-2 in the final frame and had the opportunity to win. Senior Dustin Lee pushed the ball up the floor, found an opening along the wing with less than :05 on the game clock and launched a three-pointer. The shot clanged off the iron at the buzzer sending the game to overtime. In the extra period, Lowndes doubled up the Trojans, 10-5 en route to the 52-47 victory, their seventh in eight tries.

Lowndes, stayed on top of the visiting Trojans, sending them into the intermission trailing 30-16.

Drew Harrell finished second in scoring behind Hagood’s 19 with 16 points. Lassiter led the charge for the Trojans with 17 points and Lowe added 11 points. In the JV game, Lowe led all scorers with 13 points and was followed by Brook Ross with 12 points.
