The Judson College Lady Eagles rebounded from their loss earlier in the week to notch a victory on Friday afternoon over Tennessee Temple.

The 79-54 raking by the Lady Eagles proved to be the first time that Judson had defeated Tennessee Temple.

Jennifer Holmberg proved to be the leading scorer for the Lady Eagles with 19 points and a trio of rebounds. She also added two steals. Amber George finished the night with 13 points and four steals. Charity Fuller added 12 points and six rebounds and finished the night with three assists and four steals to round out the stats. Anna Billingham added 10 points and five assists to go along with her four rebounds and three steals. Mia Allison finished the night with a near double-double of eight points and eight rebounds and had two steals and two assists.

Judson College plays host to Miles on Tuesday night in Marion. Tipoff for that game is set for 6 p.m.

In other regional basketball action:

Shelby Acad. (G) 39, Central Christian (G) 34

The Central Christian Lady Warriors took the Lady Warriors into overtime before coming up on the short end of the scoreboard.

CCA was led in scoring by Tamera Stacy’s 11 points and Shemeeka Williams 10 points. Amber Motley also finished the night in double-digits for the Lady Warriors.

Meadowview Christ. (G) 55, Evangel Christ. (G) 22

The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans improved their stranglehold on the region with the 55-22 caging of the Evangel Christian Lady Lions. The victory pushed the Lady Trojans to 4-0 in the region and 13-6 on the season.

Sophomore Deavan Aultman led Meadowview’s youth movement with 21 points and seven rebounds. Carol Ann McIntyre, the freshman, added 12 points and eight rebounds. Kasey Burton came in and added a 10-point effort, two rebounds, four steals and a block.

Elyse McIntyre had only three points for the game but she did dish out 10 assists in the victory. Karissa Foye was the leading scorer for the Lady Lions with nine points.

Evangel Christ. (B) 60, Meadowview Christ. (B) 30

The Meadowview Trojans had to play the loaded Evangel Christian Lions without their senior point guard Dustin Lee. The void showed as, according to coach Mike Cassebaum, his squad went through some growing pains.

Derek Lassiter proved to be the leading scorer for the Trojans with 12 points. Austin Dennis added six points, J.R. Lowe added five points, Blake Smith finished with four points and Ross Johnson added three points in the loss. The Trojans slipped to 6-12 and remained winless in the area at 0-4.

Selma (G) 56, G.W. Carver (G) 47

SELMA &045; Before Friday’s game against Carver High School, Selma Lady Saints coach Anthony Harris told his squad that &8220;this is our house. We’ve only lost one home game in three years. You don’t let anyone beat you at your house.&8221;

Selma’s Kemeka Wilson had 17 points and 11 rebounds, both career marks in the Lady Saints 56-47 victory. Erica Lumpkin added 16 points and seven rebounds as well being responsible for the go-ahead basket late in the game. Shemeika Simpson finished with 13 points.

Overall, the Lady Saints improved to 14-6 on the season and 5-4 in the area.

At the 5:31 mark in the second half, Lumpkin drove the lane with the score knotted at 39-39. She got the layup she was looking for and got fouled, making it a three-point play opportunity. She sank the free throw to put the Lady Saints on top, 42-39. Carver’s Tiffany McClure scored back-to-back baskets and gave the Lady Wolverines the lead 43-42. After both teams traded baskets, Selma’s Kemeisha Strong was fouled and Selma led 49-46. Strong finished with eight points. Wilson got the rebound and sank both free throws and Tiffanny Anderson hit the last four points that sealed the deal. Selma will host the defending 6A state champions on Tuesday when they play Sidney-Lanier in regional action.

G.W. Carver 61 (B), Selma (B) 47

The Selma High School Saints lost to Carver High School Wolverines 61-47.

Carver’s Derrick Webster finished the night with 16 points to lead the Wolverines. Keith Barnes added 13 points and Quawon Baldwin finished the night with 10 points. For Selma, Quinn Pernell added 12 points and Denzedl Reese had seven points. The Saints led 28-23 at the half, but allowed it to slip away down the stretch.

Lowndes Acad (B) 66, Tri-County 38

LOWNDESBORO &045; In a battle of a pair of struggling teams the Lowndes Academy Rebels (7-7) faced off between the Tri County Jaguars (1-8). The game began in Lowndes favor and would not change throughout the game as the Rebels started every quarter with the first point and ended every quarter with a deficit that was growing like a wild fire as the final whistle blew on this blow out with the score 66-38, Lowndes finds themselves over .500 with the win and now looking at a (8-7)

record on the year. Bradley Adams, Robin Hagood and T.J Mills all lead the Rebels in scoring with 10 points.

Meadowview Christ. (JVB) 47, Evangel Christ. (JVB) 26

The Meadowview Christian Junior Varsity Trojans got a preview of their competition for the Junior Varsity State Tournament held at Wilcox Academy when they faced and defeated the Evangel Christian Lions on Friday night, 47-26.

The JV Trojans matched-up with the JV Lions in the first round of the tournament on Saturday.

Brook Ross led the Trojan charge with 20 points. J.R. Lowe also found himself in double-digits with 13 points. Cooper Hain added eight points and Adam Brown added six points for the victory.

Overall, the Junior Trojans improved to 13-2 with their losses coming at the hands of Coosa Valley and Evangel earlier in the season.

Meadowview Christ. (G) 67, Abbeville Christ. (G) 16

The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans improved to 5-0 on the region, well on their way to securing the regional championship and a No.1 seed in the regional tournament at season’s end with a commanding 67-16 victory over an outmatched Abbeville Christian Lady General squad Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans were led by Carol Ann McIntyre’s career performance of 32 points and eight rebounds. She also came away with a trio of steals in the victory.

Deavan Aultman added nine points and six rebounds. She had one assist and one steal.

Elyse McIntyre finished the night with six points and seven assists as well as a trio each of rebounds and steals.

Hailey Johnston finished the night with eight points and a pair of rebounds.

Abbeville was led in scoring by Caroline Phillips’ seven points.

Meadowview will host Autauga Academy on Monday and then travel to Taylor Road on Tuesday where they will officially lay claim to their regional championship.

On Saturday, the Lady Trojans Coach Ceille Cooper will return to her old stomping grounds when Meadowview travels to Lowndesboro to take on the Lowndes Academy Rebels. Cooper, who is in her first year at the helm of the Lady Trojans’ program previously coached and won state championships at Lowndes Academy.

Meadowview Christ. (B) 65, Abbeville Christ. (B) 60

The Meadowview Trojans had four players in double-digits en route to their first regional win of the season. While their offense was on fire, it was a late defensive change that helped the Trojans secure the victory.

Leading 21-4 at the end of the first period, the Generals’ duo of Will Hayes and Chase Smith got hot from behind the arc and led Abbeville on a 20-5 second period run, cutting the Trojan lead to six, 30-24 at the intermission. The rally continued in the third period, as they outscored Meadowview 18-13 to cut the lead to one point, 43-42.

At that point coach Mike Cassebaum decided to change his defense into a triangle-press and let his horses, Dustin Lee and Blake Smith chase Abbeville’s shooters.

The change paid dividends for Cassebaum and his Trojans as they were able to effectively put the whammy on any offensive firepower Abbeville tried.

The Trojans went on to win 65-60 to secure the victory.

Derek Lassiter led the Trojans in scoring with 18 points while Smith had a career night with 16 points.

Lee came back after being held off the court the night before and rattled off eight assists to go with 14 points. J.R. Lowe also posted 14 points in the winning effort.

The Trojans will have a busy week.

On Monday they play host to Autauga Academy and then on Tuesday they play their final regional game of the season when they travel to Montgomery to face Taylor Road Academy. On Saturday, the Trojans will travel to Lowndesboro to take on Lowndes Academy.

R.C. Hatch (B) 118, Billingsley (B) 44

The R.C. Hatch Bobcats are where they should be at this time of year, according to Bobcats coach Homer Davis.

Saturday night, their on-court dominance backed up that statement. The Bobcats, who won the area championship with a 118-point effort against area foe Billingsley, have 24 wins to their credit and are a perfect 6-0 in the area. They will host both the Boys and Girls area tournament in two weeks. The Billingsley Bears were able to match-up with the Bobcats through the warm-ups and introduction &045; then they had to play four quarters. The game went downhill from there.

At the half, the Bobcats had roared to a 67-22 lead. Six of Davis’s Bobcats finished the night with double-digits in scoring, three of them coming off the bench. Phillip Johnson led the team in scoring with 19 points and six rebounds. He also had five steals and a trio of assists. He was followed by sophomore point guard Frankie Sullivan’s 18 points. Sullivan also notched five assists and eight steals.

Calvin Pope had 17 points and six steals. Defensively, he had a trio of rebounds.

Antwan Starks entered the game off the bench and posted 16 points. Samuel Brown came into the game from the bench and added 11 points.

Demarcus Porter posted 10 points after coming into the game. Calvin Dudley finished the night with eight points and Willie Coleman added six points. Billingsley was led in scoring by Willie Howard’s 10 points. The Bobcats have three games left on their schedule. They will

travel to John Essex and end the month

of January

with a road trip to Greensboro. Their one regular season game in February is against John Essex in Uniontown. From there, it’s playoff time.

AISA AAA JV State Tourney:

Faith (B) 48, Morgan (B) 40

The Morgan Academy Junior Senators were looking for their win to turn into a winning streak by leaving the Faith Junior Rams in their wake during the semi-final of the AISA AAA State JV Tournament held at Morgan Academy.

The only problem with that plan is that Faith’s Sydney Madise made the fourth quarter his own, en route to a 12-point spurt that took the Rams from trailing their rivals by six to leading them by nine points.

With :37.5 left on the clock, the Junior Rams pushed the lead to 10 points.

Morgan answered with a late jumper to cut the lead to eight, but by then it was too little, too late as the Rams advanced to the finals.

Faith defeated Lee-Scott in the championship to win AAA’s JV State Championship. Seth Psomiadis finished the night with 14 points to lead the Senators. Heath Harrellson finished with 11 points.

Harrellson was also selected to the All-Tournament team

Morgan (B) 43, Bessemer (B) 30

In order for the Junior Senators to advance to the semi-finals tournament, they had to go through a group of Rebels from Bessemer Academy. After four periods of work,

the Junior Sens came out on top with the 43-30 victory. Heath Harrellson led the Senators with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Heath Brantley chipped in with 12 points.

Pike Liberal (G) 31, Morgan (G) 20

The Morgan Academy Junior Lady Senators played one game in the state tournament before being forced to watch from the sidelines. The Pike Lady Patriots upended the host team 31-20 to advance in the tournament.

Sarah Hughey led the Lady Senators with eight points and was selected to the All-Tournament team. Faith won the Girls AAA AISA State Tournament.

AISA AA JV State Tourney:

MCS (B) 38, Evangel (B) 28

The Trojans

had an harder than normal time finishing off Evangel as the play of little man Tremayne Hardin continued to give the Lions life but, nevertheless, the Lions fell by a score of 38-28.

MCS (B) 35, Kingwood (B) 25

The next game picked up a rivalry that was left on the football field earlier this year between the MCS Trojans and Kingwood Lions. Meadowview beat the Lions of Kingwood by the same deficit they beat the Lions of Evangel, 35-25.

Coosa Valley (B) 40, MCS 37

The game was a fierce one as the lead swapped back and forth until the 4th when some very questionable fouls called against the Trojans sealed the victory for the Rebels of Coosa

Valley, 40-37 and sent them home to Harpersville with a state championship. J.R Lowe lead the Trojans through the tournament with 45 points followed by Brook Ross with 37.
