Sue Chambless Lane

Sue Chambless Lane, age 87, of Benton, AL, passed away January 17, 2006 at a Montgomery Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Benton Baptist Church with Rev. M. R. Bradley and Rev. Elwood Sims officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state prior to the service at 10-11:00 a.m.

The family will receive friends at a visitation in the Benton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the service.

Interment will be in the Benton Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Lane of Benton, AL; sons and daughters, Rabun (Charlene) Chambless, Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, FL, William B. (Sally) Chambless of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Cheryl (Glen) Hamner of San Antonio, TX, Mitzi (Ronnie) Holladay of Tyler, AL, Tommy (Brenda) Lane and Pierce (Cindy) Lane, both of Benton, AL; grandchildren, Sally A. Chambless, Jonathon (Michelle) Chambless, Susan (Marcus) Kolmetz, Elizabeth Chambless, Everett (Jen) Hamner, Jeannette Hamner, Sandi (Clark) Caldwell, Lane (Heather) Holladay, Richard (Whitney) Holladay, Brandy Lane, Brad (April) Lane, Lowery Lane and Whit Lane;

great grandchildren, Emma Kolmetz, Aiden Hamner, Abigail Lane, Faith Lane, Laney Holladay, Aubrey Holladay, Sarah Grace Holladay and Maggie Holladay.

She is also survived by a loving and devoted friend, Maxine Gaines.

Pallbearers will be Lane Holladay, Richard Holladay, Brad Lane, Whit Lane, Jonathan Chambless, Everett Hamner, Clark Caldwell and Marcus Kolmetz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Johnson, Ned Ellis, Tommy Odum, Dan Myers, David Lyon, Sr., George Wood, Phil Mitchell, Hoffman Rhyne, Sr., Allen Taylor, Bill Mooneyham and Bubba Trotman.

Mrs. Lane and her mother-in-law were founders of the Dalraida Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL in 1941.

After moving to Fort Walton Beach, FL, she was a member of Cinco Baptist Church where she taught Young Adult Sunday School for many years.

She served as W.M.O. President at Benton Baptist Church.
