If an elderly person in Dallas County needs help purchasing their prescription medicine, who can they call?

Where does an agency that serves meals every day get some of its funding?

Who helps provide funds for children’s programs, feeding programs and disaster relief?

The answer is the United Way of Selma and Dallas County.

Through its 15 agencies, the United Way invests in this community. But they need your support to continue to do that.

The organization’s fund-raising campaign kicks off Sept. 14 this year with a Day of Caring, putting together

volunteers from the area’s workforce with the agencies serving the community.

Pledge cards for the new year have been printed and organizers are setting a fund-raising goal.

Last year, the organization’s goal was to raise $450,000. This year’s goal will be comparable.

Any donation made to United Way – which is tax deductible – is an investment in all of the agencies funded by the United Way of Selma and Dallas County.

For more information on how you can get involved, contact United Way Director Jeff Cothran at 874-8383.

An investment in the United Way is an investment in this community.
