The Selma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will present “An Afternoon of Elegant Entertainment” at the Striplin Performing Arts Center Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., with young talented artists of Selma City and Dallas County schools in music, drama, dance and mime.

Featured talent in this popular annual event includes Joyce Jackson and John Thrash, both classical pianists.

Jackson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson, is a musician at Brown Chapel AME Church and a member of the Selma High School Choir.

She also plays on the Lady Saints Basketball Team.

Thrash, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Thrash, is a 2004 honor graduate of Selma High.

His avocation is concert pianist and his career choice is physician.

He is a music/pre-med major at University of Alabama Birmingham.

Erica Barnes, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Barnes, is a ballet student and was a contestant in the Miss Junior America Pageant in 2004.

Her sister Valencia Barnes, will present a dramatization.

Also featured is Zahara Thomas, a mime, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Thomas.

Vocal soloists are Timeria Baker, the daughter of Mrs. Natasha Brown, and Jeremy Harrison, son of Mrs. Gloria Jones.

Forming a musical trio are Dadreion Calhoun, whose parents are Mr. and Ms. Johnny Calhoun; Shundria Kia Pettis, daughter of Mrs. Malenda Pettis, and Roderick Harris, son of Mrs. Malinda Harris.

Pinkie Platt is president of Delta Sigma Theta and Dorothy Brown is program chair.

Latresha Woods directs the Selma High Choral, and Frank Hardy directs Selma Youth Development Dancers.
