Fifteen-year-old Walter McDaniel’s days of being treated like a child are over.

District Judge Bob Armstrong ruled Monday afternoon that McDaniel would be charged as an adult in the July murder of 18-year-old Akisha Moore. Armstrong also confirmed McDaniel’s bail at $250,000.

This decision comes after McDaniel’s transfer hearing on Aug. 18, Jackson said.

McDaniel was arrested and charged with Moore’s murder

on July 19. McDaniel was also charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling.

According to police reports, Moore was inside a Marie Foster Street pool hall/car wash when shots were fired from outside

into the building.

Police also arrested 19-year-old Bobby Thomas in connection with the shooting.

Thomas was arrested after a seven-hour standoff on Minter Avenue after involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Armstrong deemed McDaniel’s actions as a &8220;reckless, horrible and needless crime.&8221;

Wearing a blue shirt, McDaniel was escorted into the courtroom, his arms and legs shackled together.

Armstrong said he made his ruling with a heavy heart and took no pleasure in his decision. He also said McDaniel’s case was one of the most difficult cases he has dealt with since he has served on the bench.

After Armstrong gave his ruling, McDaniel let out a long sigh and was escorted out of the courtroom.

McDaniels will be 16 years old in May.
