Hoyed Davis

The funeral service of Hoyed Davis, 87, of Suwanee, Ga., formerly of Albany, Ga., died Saturday November 5, 2005 will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Avalon United Methodist Church. Rev. Dan Self, grandson-in-law of Mr. Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

1918, in Lawley, AL., to Thomas Davis and Susan Eddie Wright Davis, Mr. Davis lived in Selma, AL, before moving to Albany, GA., in 1952.

Mr. Davis was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army Air Corps as a supply sergeant in France, England and Germany.

Mr. Davis worked as a clothing salesman in Selma, AL., before opening his own store in Albany, GA., in 1952.

He-owned and operated Gay Clothing Co. and Davis Red Hanger in downtown Albany and was eventually joined in the business by his two sons, opening H. Davis & Sons in both Albany and Macon.

During his 45 year career in the men’s clothing business, he inspired a number of his employees to go into business for themselves.

After his retirement he opened Coin Laundromat in Lee County.

Mr. Davis was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church, where he served as a much-loved Friendship Bible Class teacher and served on the official board there.

He was a lay speaker for the Methodist Church.

He belonged to the Gideons and often spoke in churches representing them.

For many years, he served on the board of the Anchorage. Mr. Davis also served on the official board of Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground for 40 years and as treasurer for 28 years.

As treasurer, he was well known for his endearing speeches for contributions to mission work and the continuation of camp meetings.

Mr. Davis was a devout Christian, a dedicated and loving father.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen CallowayDavis, Suwanee, GA., two sons, Phil Davis, St. Simons, GA. andTommy Davis, summing, GA., two daughters, Nancy Thurmond, Cummings, GA., Kathy Thurman, Leesburg, GA., a brother, Clint Davis, Montgomery, AL., one sister Ella Mae House of Tuscaloosa Al., thirteen grandchildren and a great grandchild.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mathew’s Funeral Home.

Ruby Amaya Thompson

Ruby Amaya Thompson, infant daughter of Jeremy and Lauryn Thompson passed away November 7, 2005.

Graveside services will be Friday, November 11, 2005, 3:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her parents; two uncles, Michael (Denise) Thompson of New Mexico and Anthony (Alex) Deavers of Selma, AL; one aunt, Cristal &8220;Crickett&8221; McWhirt of Selma; paternal grandfather, Harry Gene Norris of Leakside, MS; paternal great-grandmother, Gladys Thompson of Selma, AL; paternal grandmother, Amanda Reeves of Selma, AL; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Caver of Selma; maternal grandfather, Thomas Carroll of Selma, AL; maternal grandmother, Christine Carroll of Selma, AL; maternal great-grandmother, Johnnie Brewer of Selma, AL; maternal great grandfather, Thomas Peoples of Selma, AL; maternal great-great grandmother, Pearlie Duncan of

She was preceded in death by two great-grandmothers, Ann Peoples and Hazel Sherman and one grandmother, Ruby S. Willet.

Samuel William

Boynton, III

Samuel William Boynton, III, of Montgomery, Alabama, a teacher, jazz mucian and host of the Alabama State University’s Sunday radio jazz program, departed this life on November 6, 2005.

Leaving to mourn his passing are his surviving wife, Shrron Boynton; father, Samuel William, Jr.; grandmother. Amelia Boynton Robinson; uncle, Atty. Bruce Boynton; and cousins Aimee Merideth and Carver Ann Boynton.

The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. this Friday at the Ross-Clayton Funeral Home in Montgomery.

Ella Mae Murray, 75, of Selma, Alabama died November 2, 2005 at her home.

Lee Youngblood

Francis Joseph Lee Youngbtood, age 88, formerly of carlowville died Tuesday, November 08, 2005 in a local nursing home.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2005 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlowville with Rev. Dan Thorton officiating and Lawrence

Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Youngblood is survived by his wife, Mildred Youngblood, son, Michael Youngblood, and granddaughter, Christina Sullivan.

Richard L &8220;Dick&8221; Dawson

Richard L. Dick&8221; Dawson, age 88, of Birmingham, died November 2, 2005.

He was a World War II veteran. He worked as an independent insurance agent and was a past state president of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents. He was a Deacon and longtime Sunday school teacher of twelve-year-old boys at Liberty Park Baptist Church, formerly Woodlawn Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Mountain Brook Swim and Tennis Club where Court 1 was recently named in his honor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry arid Zola Dawson.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor S. Dawson; sons, Richard L. Dawson, Jr. of Fairhope and Eric S. Dawson (Becky) of Orrville; daughter, Betsy Dawson Rogers of Birmingham; grandchildren, Eric S. Dawson, Jr.(Penelope) of Fairhope, Todd Dawson(Kelly) of Dothan, Rick Rogers of Chattanooga,TN and Alan Rogers of Birmingham; as well as numerous great grand children.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5th at Liberty Park Baptist Church and burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
