Youngske A. Middleton

Youngske A. Middleton, 53, of Norfolk, VA., died October 25, 2005 at Eastview Healthcare in Birmingham, Al.

Serviced are scheduled for October 29 at 11a.m. at Miller’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine View cemetery. Directed by Miller’s Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher Middleton and Nicholas Middleton; one daughter Sydney Middleton; two brothers Edgar Norris Middleton and Agee Middleton, Jr.; two sisters Wilma Jean Middleton and Sabrena Ann Vinson; one grandchild, two daughters-in-law, one brother-in-law, one nephew, 6 nieces and a host of cousins and relatives.

Active pallbearers are James Taylor, Bertram Woodson, Floyd Hatcher, Jr., and Kendall Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Middleton was a Presbyterian. He worked as a Paralegal for Davey & Brogan Law Firm in Norfolk, VA. Special thanks and love to Lula Mae Johnson and Sharon Taylor.

James Griffin Jr.

James Griffin Jr., 57, of Dallas County died October 25, 2005 at his residence.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at East Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Katie Griffin; parents Annie & James Ree Griffin Sr.; four sons Frank C. Griffin, Robert Griffin, James Griffin III, Christopher Griffin; two step-sons Rube Doss and Randy Doss; two daughters Sharon Ann Griffin and Diann Griffin; two brothers, Edward Griffin and Jim Earnest Griffin; three sisters Marianne McCants, Joe Ann Lewis and Bettie Simpson; three sisters, four brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law, six nephews and four nieces.

Kathryn Margaret Bains

Kathryn Margaret Bains of Selma passed away Wednesday October 26,2005 at her residence

Survivors include her husband, Paul Bains, Sr. son Paul (Christy) Bains, Jr. and daughter Christina (Neil) Alexander. Her grandchildren, Paul Smith Alexander, Clayton Neil Alexander, Hannah Noel Bains and Owen Nelson Bains, also survive her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ludie King

Mr. Ludie King of Perry County died October 26, 2005 in Birmingham, Al.

Services will be announced by Miller Funeral Home at a later date.

William Leon Jones

William Leon Jones died Oct. 27, 2005. Funeral arrangements are being made through Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. of Selma. Graveside services in the New Live Oak Cemetery will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Samuel Jones, his sisters Ercie Jones Cave, Eva Jones May, and Rea Jones Henderson, and his wife of 61 years, Sara Price Jones. Two brothers, Roy Jones of Selma and D. B. Jones of Opelika, survive him. He is also survived by his children William Leon Jones (Amelia Rives Jones), John Larry Jones (Edie Morthland Jones) and Judy Jones Free (Robert Matthew Free, Sr.) all of Selma.

His grandchildren include Pamela Jones Cain (Reid), Alan Cooper Leach (Roberta), Robert Matthew Free, Jr. (Leslie) and William Leon Free (Callen) of Selma. Other grandchildren include Angela Jones Williard (Jim) and Olivia Jones Whiddon (Brent) of Birmingham, Christina Jones Marques (Rhett) of Enterprise, Jason Price Jones (Britt) of Atlanta, GA, Rex Jones of Ono Island, and Elizabeth Jones Roosevelt (Ben) of County Claire, Ireland.

Great grandchildren include Courtney Rives Cain, Kristen Taylor Cain and Natalie Reid Cain, Ashley Ann Williard and Anna Elizabeth Williard, Amelia Louise Marques and Mary Rives Marques, and William Edward Whiddon. (These are the grandchildren of Bill and Amelia Jones.) Other great grandchildren include Elizabeth Brooks Leach and Clay Cooper Leach and Ramsey Price Jones. (These are the grandchildren of Larry and Edie Jones.)

Additional grandchildren include Robert Matthew Free, III and Hannah Grace Free and Leon Jones Free and Sarah Lloyd Free. (These are the grandchildren of Judy and Robert Free.)

John Holmes Jr.

John Holmes Jr., 57, of Hope Mills N.C., died October 19, 2005. Services will be scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2005 at 1p.m. at Figtree Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home Directing.

Survivors include four sons, Derek Smith, Kenneth Holmes, Marcus Holmes and Maurice Holmes; two daughters Michelle Duffield and Aloni Holmes; three brothers Freddie (Deloris) Holmes, Donald Holmes and Eddie (Alfrenda) Holmes; one sister Morcella (David) Steele; sixteen grandchildren, one son-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and a host of other relatives.

Eloyce Lancaster McCracken, 85, of Tuscaloosa, Al., died October 27 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services will be scheduled for October 28 at 3 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial

Park.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. Officiating the service will be Rev. Carl Wells and Rev.Gil McKee.

Survivors include her daughters Joy (Elton) Reece of Selma, Al and Susan (Steve) Richardson of Tuscaloosa, Al; two sisters, Doris McCullum of Panama

City, Fl., and Jean Hopper of Montgomery, Al.; three brothers, Ralph Lancaster, Ralph, Al., Ronnie Lancaster of Panama City, FL., Clark Lancaster of Spanish Fort, Al; grandchildren, Lane Reece of Tuscaloosa, Al., Todd (Kellie) Reece of Clanton, Al., Kristin Richardson of Tuscaloosa, Al.,

She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey A. Lancaster and Irene Burns Lancaster; her husband, Hildreth E. McCracken; brother Adrain Lancaster; sisters Beryl McCullum and Hazel Sutton.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lancaster, Reggie Lancaster, Phil Lancaster, Al Lancaster, Kenny McCullum, Jeff McCullum, Charley Hopper, Kirk Lancaster and Dane Lancaster.

Honorary Pallbearers, Wayne McCullum, Roger Lancaster, Randy Lancaster, Steve McCracken, Stan McCracken, Mike McCracken and Chris Davis.

Minnie Mary Dower

Minnie Mary Dower, 80, of Selma, AL., died October 22, 2005 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11a.m. at Union Grove P.B. Church with Rev. O.L. Acoff officiating. Burial will follow in Lily Grove Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Robert, William, Sammuel and Johnny Dower; nine daughters, Leslie Davidson, Lillian Olds, Diane Woods, Mary Boykin, Barbara Dower-Reese, Peggy Dower Battle, Minnie Thomas, Jacqueline Dower and Frances Reese; one brother Joe Wesley; 31 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, seven sons-in-law, three daughters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Linda Jean Hanks

Linda Jean Hanks, age 56, of Centreville, AL passed away October 27, 2005 at her residence.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 30, 2005, 2:oo p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2005, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her mother, Mary (Tommy) Smith of Maylene, AL; one son, Johnny (Loretta) Toxey of Centreville, AL; two daughters, Michelle (William) Terrell of Brent, AL and Tanya (Douglas) Ward of Centreville, AL; three step-daughters, Debra Hanks of Selma, AL, Angie Braswell of Selma, AL and Amanda Hanks of Trussville, AL; one brother, Dennis Hudson of FL; five sisters, Carolyn (Elbert) Dennis of FL, Vela (Albert) Toxey of FL, Faye Beckham of GA, Rena (Ron) Lamp of FL, and Sharon Reese of FL; two sister-in-laws, Dottie (Richard) Page and Judy (Troy) Stokes both of Selma, AL; and five grandchildren, Cheyenne Colburn, Kayla Toxey, Bennie Montgomery, Rodney Montgomery and Cole Terrell.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Martin, Jonathan Miller, Billy Miller, Michael Belcher, Charles Mills and Joseph Mills.

Antonio DeWayne Lee

Antonio DeWayne Lee, 29, of Smyrna, GA., died October 21. Services are scheduled for October 29 at 12 noon at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Rev. J.D. Ruffin officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.

Directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include his wife Rosie Lee; parents Rachel & David Lee Sr.; two sons, Devonte Lee and DeAndre Lee; two daughters Cassandra Lee and Trenyse Frazier; six brothers David Lee Jr., John Lee, Earnest Lee, Fredrick Lee, Cecil Lee and Tony Wood; five sisters, Brenda Lee, Pamela Edwards, Cassandra Williams, Marie Pope and Mary Ann Wood; three sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law and a host a nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charles Strowder, Jesse McNeil, Marcus Harris, Cedric Williams, Gary Clennon and Keith Moore.

James Wilson Rouse

Mr. James Wilson Rouse, 67, of Athens, Al., died Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Services will be scheduled for Friday, October 28 at 11a.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Interment will be at Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-9p.m.

Survivors include his wife Pasty Rouse; five sons, Jimmy Rouse of Elkmont, Al., Bobby Rouse of Elkmont, Al., Jeff Rouse of Thatch, Al., Scott Rosue of Athens, Al., and John Rouse of Lester, Al; one daughter Cindy Dimas of LaBelle, Florida; three brothers Roger Rouse of Athens, Al., Bo Rouse of Athens, Al., and Pete Rouse of Ocala, Florida; three sisters Peggy McCurdy of Stanford, Florida., Frances Brewer of Hamilton, Al., and Reba Brown of Jasper, Al; 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the East Highland Baptist Church. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #320, Florence, Al.
