To say the Meadowview Christian Trojans had their hands full on homecoming would be a colossal understatement. Friday’s game between the Trojans and the Kingwood Christian Lions will easily be the biggest game in Class AA’s east division.

If the unbeaten Lions remain that way after four quarters of football, they will have locked up one of the top two slots in the standings.

If the Trojans win, however, that will make their match-up with Escambia on Oct. 14, one for the regional title.

Kingwood comes into the game with a marked advantage, they are one of a handful of teams that runs a wide-open, West Coast offense.

The Lions are led into Friday’s game by their quarterback Andrew Pearce who is 39-of-88 passing for 887 yards as of last week.

So far, his favorite target has been the 6-foot, seven-inch Cody Owens. Owens has 21 receptions for 499 yards and six touchdowns. They also pose a threat when it comes to returning the football on kickoffs and punts. Owens is No. 2 in the state with 10 attempts for 242 yards.

Defensively, Lakin Spinks, the Lions tight end/middle linebacker with a total of 51 sacks.

The Trojans, however, will bring a contrasting offense to the table. Meadowview is led by their senior running back Dustin Lee. The Trojans are planning to use their ground attack to their advantage and keep the Lion offense off the field.

The Trojans Black Hat defense forced 13 turnovers in 5 games and pitched three shutouts in five games.

This weekend is also Meadowview’s homecoming.
