Tonight’s game between Dallas County High School and Keith High School has no bearing on regional standings or playoff hopes. But, it’s going to be a big game for both teams emotionally.

The Hornets thought they’d found the spark on Tuesday when they played Livingston High in their first of two games this week. After opening with a 22-6 rally, the Hornets quickly had the momentum shift in the second half.

The Cougars came back to outscore the Hornets 30-8 in the second half for the 36-30 victory.

Keith, on the other hand, enters Friday night’s game with one win already under their belt. Granted it was against, R.C. Hatch, but it was still a win.

The last time Keith beat Dallas County was four years ago in a 28-21 dogfight according to Crum. It also marked his first year as the head coach of the Bears.

Both coaches, currently at the helm of struggling programs realize the importance a victory could have for their team’s emotional status, as well.

Last Friday, the Hornets were beaten by Bibb County 12-6 in double overtime. The Hornets had their opponents stopped on fourth down, but a quarterback scramble into the end zone sealed the victory for Bibb County.

Despite the fact that both teams are coming into this game with a combined one win between the two of them, it’s still a rivalry game and bragging rights are on the line.

On paper, the match-up should go to the 4A school, due to the fact that 4A’s are supposed to have the bigger school and the bigger athletes. But games aren’t played on paper.

Hiott knows that he will have his hands full Friday night.

Crum will have his Bears fired up and ready to play.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and will be played in Orrville.
